I'm so happy it's not like that anymore.

That was a really long day. It was fun to experience (kinda, just once, lol).

That was definitely a zany day. We had a hotel in town and figured we'd "beat the rush" by showing up before 7. Woke up early (just in case) and saw FB pictures and postings about a 100-person line. I bet we quintupled the speed limit on Grand Ave hightailing it down there. We ended up getting 2 of the last "official" tickets although Troy ended up busting out some extras to help people out.
We bailed and went from some breakfast and hiking after the tickets went out.

Holy shit. I assume online ticketing has prevented this from happening since? I hear it's a lot more relaxed now.

MUCH more relaxed. Those releases referenced above started pissing off the neighbors (car alarms going off and music bumping at 3am) which led to the ticket sales. Life is so much better now!

Exactly. Now, if you have a ticket, there's no need to show up earlier than 11 am. Your bottle allotment is guaranteed (until the end of the event at 4 pm) and there are plenty of beers flowing for on-site pours at the bar . It's super relaxed amd low-key these days.

Jesus christ, fucking car alarms and music at 3am? I can't believe people party like that for bottle releases. Also, Casey posted a picture of some cherries. Looks like Sour Balaton for this release maybe?

Not this release. That would still have to sit on fruit for a while and then still be bottled. I would expect September

Ah, okay. Damn, I wish I had any sort of clue what to expect for this release. Popping my cherry on this one, thought the universe would align.

Oh there will still be cherries.... of the Montmorency variety this release. Some other tasty gems as well :grinning:

Does anyone wanna carpool on the 30th with a friendly very novice beer lover? It's my first time heading up to Caseys and right now I just plan on going alone(I have a car, plan on heading up early solo about 2 and a half hours from me) I'm okay with making the trip alone but it would be cool to have some like minded beer lovers in the car to teach me a thing or two on the way!

Post up where you'll be coming from and that may make it more enticing/easier. Lots of guys in here have carpooled before this way.

Any idea of how long Troy usually lets beers bottle condition before they go up for sale in an allocation? I saw them post that they bottled a new recipe of Biere de Garde.

I can't remember where it was on this thread, but I think someone mentioned 2 weeks. I wouldn't entirely trust my hazy memory however.

@frontrangefart could be right with 2 weeks. That said, I don't think there's much meaning to it, as many of his beers are released when they are due to need for inventory space more than anything. He's held back cuts and CFPs before to get them to carb up further, but usually they just need to be moved out of the building.

On a related note, I generally find many of his beers to be better with a few weeks - a few months on them when compared to the release.

There's no set time. They're released when they're ready. Some a few weeks after bottling, others a month or more.

I think he might have a typical timeframe for some items like Saison or Fruit Stand, but there's no guarantee.
Based on things he has said and posted, I'm pretty sure most stuff is sold "when it's done." Some carb up and shape up quickly, others have taken a while. A few were even sold as "sleepers" on-site because they didn't carb up in time for a release.

There is never any set timeframe that he releases bottles based on. Troy is constantly sampling his beers and getting the help/opinion of others to make sure the beers are ready to release. Some of the more standard beers like Saison and East Bank, I think they are usually cleaned up and ready to go fairly quickly and consistently.

But other beers like a few of the Cuts and CFPs, Troy has been known to wait weeks or even months before releasing them because he didn't feel like they were up to his standard yet. Other beers (most-notably Bing Cut) have not been released in bottles to the public, and have been held-back indefinitely.

For instance, Plum Cut has been in bottles at least since January. He poured bottles at the Vail Big Beers fest. I know we've all been patiently waiting for that one to be released, but clearly it's just not ready yet. So per your question, Troy won't release bottles based on a schedule but rather based on when they're ready and up to his standard.
