Love sharing. Most of my friends bring quality beers when we drink so no issue. I do hate a few things:

    A. The dude who brings OK beer knowing you are going to pour amazing beer to share.

    B. The guy who brings beer to your house, drinks yours and then takes his leftovers home. Come on, bruh!

For me, I just want to know that a great beer is getting appreciated to it's fullest. Cracking open a beer you really want and sharing it with someone who doesn't appreciate it is kind of a bummer. I'd want someone who shares my enthusiasm and wants to comment on and experience the beer to it's fullest.

This is a slightly different scenario, but last year I had a bottle of 2012 J.W. Lees Harvest ale. I was really looking forward to trying this beer. Well, my sister took it, along with some other beers, to a party. I wasn't even mad about that fact that it was taken (it's beer, I can buy it again-plus, it was likely just an accident) but that some moronic teenager just looking to get a buzz probably took one sip of it and poured it out :slight_frown:.

I have fixed the glitch by just not having friends. No mooching ever. :stuck_out_tongue:

Unless I'm saving something for a specific reason the only time I cut somebody off is if they don't know their own (tolerance) limit or if somebody else hasn't had a chance to try something. If somebody is drowning themselves in a beer that is hard to obtain sometimes all you have to do is educate them a bit on the background of the beer so that they're not throwing them back like a light lager. Sometimes it is as simple as bringing out some hard liquor for that one person who just wants to get drunk or making a mixed drink for that other person who wants to open a bottle, take a sip, and leave it on the table... You just have to learn how to play the game. If it is an actual moocher who is there to take advantage of you the only thing you can either not invite them back or make it clear that they have to bring something specific the next time they show up. If the person is clueless about beer you can offer to go to the bottle shop with them or have them bring food instead. There are options.

It hasn't really ever been an issue. I might share a beer with someone and they'll repay me with liquor, more beer, cigars, etc. It all ends up about even between us I think. Maybe I just have extraordinarily nice friends. :grinning:

Any more than two beers and the silent deed is usually expected to be returned within my group of friends. It's just how we are. We like sharing stuff with each other without specifically bringing it up in conversation.

However, no one just goes around grabbing beers from the fridge without asking first. That's just rude.

Two at most unless it's my roommate who happens to be my only drinking partner with a modicum of respect for the hobby and gesture of giving a beer

I'm down with sharing anything in my cellar with friends, but don't open anything without asking.

I've never had an issue - either people bring and share or invite me over and provide a similar experience.

I give people beer left and right. I like to share what I enjoy. I don't expect anything in return.

I am mostly generous with anything that is in my fridge except for one occasion. My father had gone out to San Francisco a few years back and I told him to bring me back that famous Pliny The Elder I kept on hearing about. Luckily, he was able to find it and brought back 4 bottles. I went to pick them up at my parents place a few days after he got back. They happened to be having a party. I shared one bottle with a beer loving friend of mine who had been invited. We both shared the bottle of our first Pliny and it was absolute heaven. My mother, who knows nothing about beer, then starts telling me to offer the other bottles to the other guests. Considering that the other guests were wine drinkers, and more importantly, that Pliny is so hard to get for East Coasters, I flat out refused.

Like a lot of people have said, if it's in my main fridge then it's up for grabs. Any private stock is in the cellar or a separate fridge.

I usually do bottle shares with only one person on a consistent basis. We always go beer for beer usually. If I am a t astrange place where I do not usually do shares, I am more careful but always generous !!

This. People have treated me to some of their finest and rarest beers, and I'd have no problem doing the same.

Never had problems with mooching. If its at my place and you have an invite, your are not required to bring anything, but my friends always bring something to the table.
