I thought it was awesome, both the Master Shredder and Crucial Taunt are hazy yellow orange ish with big fruity hop noses and what I feel is the perfect amount of bitterness (fairly low). Sleeping Forever is a really nuanced imperial stout with coffee and chocolate notes, although neither are additives to the beer. It tastes like they really had a flavor profile they were after and they put some work in to get it right, instead of just hitting you with "bigness" .

Awesome. I'm especially excited to try the stout, if I can find it. The nuance and bigness without any adjuncts sounds fantastic.

That stout Is thick as a shake and easy drinking for 13 percent. The hype train on the barrel version should be fun to watch and possibly justified.

I may have missed this, but did anybody get a sense of how often they're going to be doing canning runs going forward?

Echo what has been said already, I thought all four beers were good & I particularly enjoyed both staple IPAs. Easy drinking, citrusy, low bitterness, etc. Look forward to more from these guys.

Correct to what @beernuts said. Their current plan is to do canning every Tuesday with those fresh cans being available when doors open at 4pm. I would assume if they still have unsold product from the previous week those would be sold first before the fresh ones start to sell. Once they get several weeks into canning/selling I would also guess they will have an idea how much gets sold through on a weekly basis so they can adjust production and there is very little overlap of cans are leftover from week to week.

I really wish Other Half would switch to weekday releases.

How come? I enjoy weekend releases, but realize those bring 'more' people in.

Other Half releases are a total shitshow. It brings a lot more people in - most of the people are from surrounding areas rather than people that actually live in NYC. Weekday releases would likely be much more lowkey - it would be great to pop over after work and grab a few 4-packs. Waiting 5+ hours on a Saturday morning has really worn thin.

Tried my first beer of my mixed four pack tonight and it was master shredder. Overall it was a good beer but not great, nose was good and had a tang on the finish. I also thought it was a bit thin and lacking in overall flavor, but I am nitpicking. Very excited to try the other three beers.

With living so close to Aslin and having the Veil now open, VA Craft beer lovers have a dynamic duo that will be producing world class beers!

    Post from Veil's page yesterday.

"**FRESH CANS BEING RELEASED TOMORROW TUESDAY 4/19**

Tomorrow(Tuesday April 19th) we will be canning fresh batches of Master Shredder(our flagship wheat IPA) and Crucial Taunt(our flagship double IPA). They will be released when we begin our regular hours of service in the tasting room from 4-9pm.

These cans will ONLY be available from our tasting room.

They will be less than 7hrs old when our doors open at 4pm.

Both the Master Shredder and Crucial Taunt 4-packs will be $13. Limits will be based off of turn out. We will have approx. 40 cases of Master Shredder and 100 cases of Crucial Taunt.

From tomorrow on, we will be canning pretty much every Tuesday.

    Hope to see y'all tomorrow"

Just imagine the look of shock and anger when the normal heavy Broad / Boulevard 5:00 PM rush traffic hits Veil release traffic. Wonder if VDOT has traffic cams in that general area.....should be quite the spectacle for at least the first few what, weeks? months?

Okay so help out the n00b here - I'm not close enough to just pop by but not so far that I can't make a point to come by for a visit.

They're open until 9PM at the earliest Tuesday-Saturday. Could someone show up at 8PM on Wednesday in the hopes of no significant line and buy cans that are like 35 hours old? Is the concern that the cans will likely all sell on Tuesday so if you aren't there then you'll probably miss them and the rest of the days it's just what's available on tap?

I'm going to take this as partially sarcastic? I'm sure the owner/brewery is used to those NE weekly releases where lines show up at crazy hours during the week for releases but don't really see mad chaos today for it. It would be great for them if their weekly releases do reach that level of demand though and they have to increase to can more. I know Saturday was a madhouse but do you really see a line of 50+ deep showing up before opening today to snag the new batch? Maybe after people get off work it will be busy but yeah, have fun with 5 o'clock rush hour meets a Veil release with limited parking.

This is the first canning, so nobody knows. They only have 40 cases or Master Shredder and 100 of Crucial Taunt, so I would expect them to sell out quickly today. Maybe as time goes on and they can more, plus people build up a stock in their fridge, they'll last longer. I'm kind of disappointed at the low case numbers, I thought there would be more. I'm from Richmond but live in Alexandria now, so it would be super easy for me to go down on a Saturday, but not so much a Teusday.

Indeed, I am chicken little-ing a touch, but back when I was rolling beer, if we got hemmed in anywhere between VCU and 195 in the Broad area near rush hour, you'd have to add a good 30 minutes to normal operations since the exodus onto 195 would add to the wait at poor (in my opinion) cycled lights and lack of actual turn lanes. I'm also thinking that it won't take much to chain react added traffic onto Clay, which oughta create some backups off of 195. Granted, I have very little faith in the collective ability of Richmonders in general to navigate normal traffic, so anything extra seems like it has a "straw on the camel's back" effect. Not pinning blame or anything on The Veil, as releasing on Tuesdays and thus, creating a week long of opportunity does seem awesome. Just saying for the first few weeks, it has the potential of causing pain.

Cool, I guess I'll just wait and see. I see myself taking a day off sometime this summer to just hop around RVA since I don't get to do that enough. Maybe I'll just target a Tuesday. I want to try their brews but not enough to drive and stand in line just for that. Mix in grabbing some crowlers from The Answer then maybe hitting up Ardent or something and that sounds like a pretty fun day off.

That sounds like an awesome day off, and I would agree that you should probably wait and see how things shake out.
