Dark Lord Day 2016

Here are the details for the DLD extended weekend festivities @ Beer Geeks in nearby Highland, IN.

 

This my first DLD. Ill be the dude handiing out tums and pouring sours

 

Not sure if anyone else is aware of, but Great Taste of the Midwest tickets go on sale day after DLD. Going to be a long weekend.

 

Yarp. I'm the good guy this year.. Going to stop drinking earlier in the afternoon and drive a group of us up to Madison to line up.

 

A good product idea for the site, BA shirts customized with usernames on the back.

 

Will finally be a first time Dark Lord Day attendee after 2 years of failed attempts, third time was a charm. Also, after over a year of reading forums and reviews on here I finally created an account. Was only able to land one ticket, so looking to share some bottles, make a trade possibly, and just hangout and enjoy the event. Have session B and would appreciate any advice or tips to enjoy the day. Thanks to all in advance!

It sounds absolutely awful, yet I want to try it.

Why didn't you drink it fresh? There is a store in Indy that, a couple weeks ago, still had cow from last year, I should try to pick up a bottle "for science".

 

I will be across the street at the holiday inn.... and due to a strange logistics situation, will be without a car Friday night so I see myself boozing it at places within walking distance. My guess is, "without a car" is a great way to be on that particular night.

 

67 and sunny, 20% chance of rain...looking great and unlike any other DLD

 

I only went in 2013 and it was sunny all day. When it doesn't rain this year you can all thank me.

 

2007, 2010, 2011, 2013 all had great weather... most of the other years were just a bit chilly and if you wore a jacket you were fine. Only a couple years with actual rain, last year being the worst by far.

 

'14 wasn't that bad if I remember right. Just super windy. Last year was literally the absolute worst. I think I went through 12 pairs of socks.

 

Anything but precipitation. I don't care if it's 20°, I just don't want to be soaked like last year. Had a complete rain suit and was still soaked by 10am.

 

Just an FYI because you are obviously late to the party but there is a size limit to the backpack and oz max, dunno how much they will be enforced but thought you should know, from the site:

Bottle Share
1. No wine or liquor is allowed on the premises.
2. Beer brought in must fit in your backpack and may not exceed 288 oz., which is the equivalent of one case of beer. Backpacks should be of standard size (approximately 10” X 10” X 16”, able to fit in a milk crate), no frames and no wheels.
3. Beer that is brought into Dark Lord Day may be consumed or traded.
4. Beer may be carried out of the festival grounds, but it must be in sealed, unopened containers. This means no flip top jugs or growlers.

 

To further clarify this line -- 3F did clarify via the DLD twitter account that they will not be allowing fliptops/growlers/etc.. in to the event either.
