The lower supply is true, but the level of demand is unwarranted.

They aren't shelf turds everywhere on the west coast from what I've heard. I don't disagree that there are some places they stick around for awhile, but from friends/traders I've dealt with, there are also spots where it is hard to get. I also think Parabola is the one that is hardest to get for some reason...personally, I have found the anniversary beers to be way superior.

I've always found the anniversary beers to be the hardest to obtain.

Well, the XIX was my first attempt at it and I managed to grab 3, so I wasn't sure if it was the easiest or I just was at the right place at the right time. I feel like Parabola is harder based on what I've read in the Beer Release thread, though.

I get the feeling the next anniversary beer will be a mess just because of the number.

I've never once been able to buy an anniversary in a store. This is my first year scoring one and I had to buy it second hand off a guy that bought a whole case.

Sure Arnold Schwarzenegger is still governor, Green day tops the billboard 100 and Water is as abundant as the great lakes oh, that California. I was going to go out there to gather gold from streams but the really money is in that Parabola that litters gas station shelves apparently.

Wow. I called yesterday and the guy said "Yeah, I think it came in, let me check..." put me on hold, picked up again and goes "oh uh, nevermind we didn't get it." Something sounded weird, but I took his word. Called again today and sure enough they got it in yesterday and are sold out now. Pretty shitty.

I can relate to this as well. I've seen Parabola in a store, Sucaba, Velvet Merkin, Helldorado... but never the Anniversary. I was fortunate enough this year to get 1 bottle of XIX from a regular trading partner.

Yeah - that is poor service on their part. I assume they were holding a few for coworkers or regular customers, but at least be honest and say "we did get it, but have no more available."

I feel like some of you are acting as if parabola should just sit around on shelves here. Plain and simple it is. Great beer and there just isn't enough to go around. I believe the msrp is $16 or $17 which makes it just that much more desirable. All of that put together plus the reputation it's built should explain why people are so dedicated to finding it

That article is awful...here are some "highlights" that I found as well:

In referencing Kern Citra Double IPA, they say "One reviewer described this Californian Imperial Stout as "gum-scrubbing good,"...so is it an IPA or a Stout???

When discussing Fundamental Observation, they say "One reviewer called this Imperial IPA "probably the best vanilla stout I've ever had."

I think they could use a new editor.

Is "gum-scrubbing good" even a compliment? because that actually sounds awful ...

The breakfast stout container is being used as a utensil holder..... You can see the napkins in it
