Carton Brewing (April 2016)

According to FB AOE is gone.

 

My opinion, they had the limit at one case pp on Sunday to avoid a sh*t show today (and subsequent days). Just wanted to get rid of it. Again, just my opinion

 

And it was a good idea IMO. easy to say when I got some of course but the typical Thursday release is a school day too and the NY BAer could make it down on a Sunday. And considering what they were selling, it was executed perfectly. There was a 2 person line when I walked in downstairs.

They also are releasing SS Cream this week I believe (as per STB). Since it was brewed at Smuttlabs (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong) there is likely a metric fuckload of it, a la Sit Down Son. Perhaps not . . but maybe they want to make room in the cooler.

 

I agree too, but i also live close... so easy for me to say!

 

Augie did say they shoehorned this release (AOE) in so what you are saying about moving this out the door ASAP to make room for SS Cream makes total sense.

 

Not sure what our other options are though. I was the first person in line today but I had no idea we couldn't line up early. I ended up being about 50 or 60 because I took it seriously when they came out and asked us not to line up early, so I was by my car down the block when they opened around 4:50 and all of the people loitering 20 feet from the building were let in first. Not complaining at all, I was still in and out in around 15 minutes, but I just don't know what else a bunch of people waiting for something are supposed to do?

Totally agree, I said this to a few people there today. I'm sure they were hoping it all would sell out Sunday, But i'm glad to have scored a 4 pack since I couldn't make it Sunday!

 

Honestly, even though I got just a 4 pack versus 1 case, I am VERY happy with it. I am so glad I was able to get some when I did. And the transition into getting one was seamless. I was worried when I saw people all over the place in the parking but the actual customers were pretty cordial as well about lines merging to get in.

 

Yep. You gotta respect it When there is a reasonable explanation as to why they did what they did. That's another reason why @augiecarton Is the best. The first reason of course is the great beer.
I'm going to skip cream this weekend and hope it is around next weekend. I have to put some serious effort into drinking down my supply. If my wife sees anymore Orange cans, she is going to start throwing them at me.

 

Looks like the Cloverleaf still has a lot of Carton still on tap from yesterday's takeover.

The SS CREAM cans aren't going to be orange. I think they'll be grey - problem solved lol

 

ha! when i open my fridge it basically glows orange right now.

 

They will be harder to avoid once they become projectiles. The Orange cans are highly visible and easier to avoid

 

Hoping SS Cream sees similar distribution as Sit Down Son. So much of that hit my local shop it was easy to get for months.

 

I've been under mandate to finish orange cans and then I brought 2 more four packs today.

I'm unsure if you're aware of the ranting history but it's far too involved to cover without getting off topic. And for the love of NJ geography and horrendously salted pork(?) product, I wouldn't want to get this thread off topic anymore then it is.

My point is to keep it on topic henceforth, so good luck to all coveting the Cream. But don't sleep on the Ego.

 

I'm aware of all the Kane/Carton/Other Half ranting history in general and @HopBomb515 and his qualms about releases in particular. I just didn't get what was wrong with him looking favorably on a brewery that makes their beer releases more accessible to a larger number of people, himself included. I agree with him. Should he want beer to be harder for him to get? I think that's much more relevant to beer topics than the pork roll/ NJ geography debate.

 

Ahh I must have just ended up missing you there then. Was there from around 6-8ish. Anyway, just wanted to say great event and thanks for brewing some of my favorite beers! That lineup was awesome!

 

You make it seem as though I'm the only one to utter a bad word about Kane. Let's move on with life and realize that not everyone will feel the way you do.

 

Got a four pack yesterday, very organized and quick!

The randall AOE was also amaze-balls! Much smoother and no alcohol on the finish like when I tried a can earlier in the week.

 

The Randall was really good. I didn't notice the citra but the candy rode the booze and left a lingering sweetness. It was really nice.
