You forgot to add...."Take your name and social security number down" so that you won't be able to call back twice.

Part of the gig with having highly in demand products. I worked at EB Games in College and the amount of calls I took in a hour about Halo 2 pre-orders and availability dwarf anything they would get about Parabajava. Just gotta deal with it.

honestly, not sure what the big fuss on Parabajava is. Is it cause its rare? Because I actually prefer the taste of Parabola to it.

Think it's mainly because of B1 newness. Though yeah, give me a bottle of Parabola over it any day. I can french press my own Parabajava with some El Diable beans any day of the week to make it coffee forward.

I cracked a Parabajava last week as well since I was happy to pick one up from the brewery store and while it was definitely a great tasting beer, I don't think it's necessarily worth the animalistic fuss made over it. Honestly I was also happier to just be able to get a couple bottles of 2016 Parabola since all my normal shops got it and sold out in seemingly minutes.

I suppose I could Google this, but because you've had your experience with it, I'm curious what your method is for French press infusing beer with coffee beans? Coarse grind? Do you filter out the sediment? I'd love to infuse some Parabola with 49th Parallel beans

    Cheers!

It did seem to sell out MUCH faster this year. It's always gone pretty quick, but this year, I felt like I really had to scramble to get some.

Parajava is so whatever. I prefer regular parabola. Can't believe people waited in line for 3 hours for it when it was released...

Yes, hard to believe that people would wait in line for a limited variant of a highly rated beer from a highly respected brewery that few people had tried. That sort of thing never happens.

I haven't opened my bottle yet so I don't if I share your opinion. If I did it wouldn't be the first coffee variant where I prefer the base beer.

But to ding people that stood in line because I ( or someone else ) prefer the base beer is a bit of stretch. I'm sure there are people that prefer the coffee variant. Especially when it was fresh, like when they stood in line.

What did Jerry Garcia say? "One man gathers what another man spills".

French Press with whatever amount of coffee beans coarsely ground. The more beans the less time it takes. Pour a solid half the bottle into the press. Keep the rest for balancing it out. Let the mix sit for a couple of minutes and just test it out after about 5 or so. Then blend some of the non-coffee stuff until you're happy with it.

I'm curious as to why folks would hold on to bottles without trying it thus far. I would advise to pop open the parabajava sooner rather than later. That coffee isn't going to get stronger over time.

In my case, I just picked mine up at the Venice store two weeks ago. But I will be drinking it soon.

Although I do need to say many of coffee adjunct beers I find very unbalanced, as in too coffee heavy, so I don't mind a little fading of the coffee.

Same, I wish I could have gotten two bottles so I could save one. I'll have to open mine soon while the coffee is still present and compare it to Parabola.

Honestly, I really like the one bottle policy. Sure that means I only get one, unless I look elsewhere. But It also means I can stroll in on Sunday afternoon and get my one bottle. I think of it as an allocation, not unlike a beer club/society minus the annual fee. In addition, more local people get access to it. Which view as a good thing.

It sounds like Firestone is here to serve the local community, rather than creating a distribution center for the secondary market. Personally, I respect that.

im pretty sure some people are sitting on their parabajavas because its an ongoing series where they will continually release it but with different coffee beans. at least that was the impression i was under.

True, easy access to more people is the way it should be. I did appreciate the fact how easy it was to get a bottle of each considering I was expecting to leave empty handed, though I still wonder how long our restriction from buying any more will last haha.

Parabajava's recipe going back to the draft only version has been continuously made with Intelligentsia El Diablo espresso beans, while the P.R. piece for PJ states it's an ongoing experiment, I'll believe it when I see a different coffee added with it.

While I'm not sure if they'll change the coffee roasters, Jeffers and the Lion have said that they aren't going to be doing much in terms of putting any different adjuncts into parabola due to it eating into the bottle count of the base and they like Parabola to speak for itself.

Another batch of Parabajava will show up later in this year, but I'm not sure what the benefit of saving the previous year's bottle will really do going side by side with a newer one. Mainly because by that year mark, the comparison would be a little off. I mean, unless you're also sitting on Kern River Citra bottles to see what it taste like side by side with the new batch.

they're currently out of parabolas but still have parabajavas for sale. also looks like they changed their hours to 12-8 for the store to have more overlap with the restaurant hours
