Opened a 22OCT15 1314 bottle just a bit ago and let it get to almost room temperature. It was previously cellared straight from purchase. It did seem to have a slight cherry flavor to it. Not as intense as it was on a '15 BCBCS from a previous occasion. But perhaps it just may be the onset? I just put two more bottles in the fridge (another one from 22OCT15 & one from 09NOV15) and will try them this weekend. I've got more from 22OCT15 so I'm bit worried.

All four Oct1 opened at club tonight were perfect. In fact, they were some of the best regular I, or the other members, ever tasted. What a shame to think they might be holding infection that is yet to show.

Drank a 2014 last night randomly and a 2015 Nov 12 14.3% tonight now that this thread escalated. Both excellent, though definitely different in expected ways. Stored at a constant 52 degrees since purchase in Austin last fall. I have 5 or 6 more. Hopefully, they hold up.

Not asking about the date.. Was asking about the numbers after the ABV.. One bottle started with 217,the other 218

    "bottle #1 - 09OCT15 1426 13.7% - 217 15 D1 22:34

    bottle #2 - 30SEP15 0848 13.7% - 218 15 D1 03:33"

Got ya. Only went up thread to the pic which, as you say here, doesn't show anything after the ABV so figured you were talking about size of picture.

Opened a 10/21 bottle tonight, and unfortunately it is starting to turn. The aroma was nothing like what I'm used to with BCBS, and this originally was one of their better years bottling reg BCBS. It had a sweet, tart cherry taste. Not as strong as the BW, but I'm afraid it will soon. Have a few more with this date, as well as others. Hopefully it's not widespread.

What kinds of off flavors did you get?

For those that open a bottle and post results, if you can, mention the storing conditions you have kept the beer in. Specifically temperature.

From the side-by-side my buddy and I did of the same bottle date but different storing conditions, the results were alarming. Keeping the beer in the fridge kept it tasting great, the one kept in a closet tasted awful.

Interesting. Maybe the refrigeration just delays the inevitable 'off-taste'. I will be opening up a bottle tonight. It will have been stored at 54 degrees F for the entire time until this morning when I placed it into the fridge for drinking after work.

this is what i predicted back in December. it's also why i suggested refrigerating everything, Rare & Regal included. not to mention GI probably does not store any of their would be samples in closets or settings with uncontrolled temperature. so of course what their "brewers" taste is not identical or necessarily even a reliable representation of what customers might actually be tasting/experiencing.

I had a bottle last night- I believe it was Nov 5 - and it was not the same as a few months back. Had the tang/cherry wine taste. They've been stored in my basement which is usually about 65 degrees. still have about 15 more bottles and not excited about the potential aging.

Is BCBS not supposed to develop dark fruit flavors? I have had that in years past and personally find it delicious. I have had several other BA stouts such as Maman which have also developed dark fruit flavors and is delicious. Is it just me?

And fridge vs. closet are probably about the gamut of reasonable storage conditions that people are going to have experienced. Sure, there are probably some morons who have their bottles "cellared" in the equivalent of a sweltering greenhouse, but most people are probably storing theirs in a fridge, basement, closet or equivalent to those.

I'm running out of fridge room for things I actually want to drink soon with all the Odd Side and now GI beers I'm having to put in there as a failsafe for unwanted flavor development.

I see several folks commenting on cherry flavors in the '15: some of you said cherry, others say tart or sour cherry.

Have drank 4 bottles or so of the '15, and each one was delicious and had a chocolate-cherry thing going on, which I really dig. No sour or tart in there though.

Not sure what this translates to with people reporting bad bottles but I thought it was interesting

Mine were boxed up in a low 60 degree basement. I should also point out that I opened one last night from the same box that contained 2 infected bottles and it was not infected. All of my bottles are dated 04NOV15.

It's posts like this that give me hope that the infection isn't present in all bottles rather than it being in all bottles and is just taking effect at different speeds based on storage conditions.

Although I suppose it's possible that the amount of renegade yeast/bacteria in a given bottle might cause the impact to take hold at different speeds? Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me can speculate...
