That's my top 3 as well but being in Group C the only one of those that might be left is the BBA DL. However, being in Group C also allows me to hopefully try some of the variants on tap before selecting my bottle. Maybe I'll find one that flies under the radar and lasts until the later groups.

 

Interesting. I honestly didn't see anything in the afternoon. That's not to say that the other beers being poured out weren't awesome.

 

I'm mostly against the 2015s for 2 reasons:
1) Clearly these are the variants that not many people wanted last year, so it feels like they're dumping them on....Group E this year.

2) I'm curious how they'll all hold up over a year. They could certainly be better with age, but I worry that someone will be disappointed when their Akvavit doesn't taste like Akvavit.

 

I'm in the same boat, and I wouldn't be surprised if a couple other options get a higher response than BBA DL, or at least enough to let the BBA DL stretch out a bit farther into our group (I think it's safe to say Marshmallow and French Vanilla will be gone quickly). It'll be interesting to see if any of the others start to gain momentum based on people tasting them.

 

1) both vanillas will go first

2) followed by lowest bottles counts

3) poor unloved 2015s will last until the end

 

obviously no one knows, but generally does the regular BA DL last for a bit. In C and that would probably be my choice.

 

Personally I'd like there to be a clean singing band in the lineup.

 

That's a good point. Last year I was able to get the Cognac Coffee DL in Group C and that was excellent.

 

I was in Group D last year and BADL was what I chose.

 

I got to try it twice. The first time I tried it, someone offered me a pour. It was absolutely delicious so I sought it out. Traded for a bottle, cracked it at a share and it was incredibly underwhelming. Wish it tasted like the first time I tried it because it was phenomenal.

Municipal Waste is about as clean as you typically get in metal.

 

Last year everyone in the earlier groups didn't get a variant though. I'm not sure what is going to be left for C this year.

 

In certain genres of metal, yes, this is true. But there still are plenty of metal bands that use actual singing and not growling.

 

Word on the streets is that it is, as FFF stated, first come first serve. However, word on the streets is also that all variants will be spread evenly amongst the groups.

 

Sure, I get ya. What bands would you like to see added to the bill?

 

I have seen a few people say this, but not sure where this is coming from exactly.

 

One more word of disappointment from me (I swear, I'm not really upset) - I was kinda hoping Big Freedia (or someone similar, I suppose) would be back at DLD this year. That was a fun show.

I also thought the beer was pretty killer.

 

Blind hope. This was never the case in the past, I see no reason to get your hopes up that it will be this time.
