Sumatra Mountain Brown coming out May 2nd in 4pks. MSPR of $11.99. Packaging below and full press release below.

    From Founders:

"Remember that TBA on the specialty lineup of our 2016 availability calendar!? Well, the time has come to announce what will be filling its place: Sumatra Mountain Brown! Considering how much we love putting coffee in beer, we are pretty pumped about this one. Please join us in welcoming this imperial brown ale to the family:

Sumatra Mountain Brown gets its body from a team of malts, including Caramel malt for sweetness, flaked barley for dense foam, a bit of Chocolate malt for its deep color and Aromatic and Munich malts to add even more depth. German and Perle hops bring balance to the malty sweetness by introducing a touch of bitterness. The addition of rich Sumatra coffee takes this perfectly balanced brown ale to a decadent level. Sumatra Mountain Brown comes in at a hefty 9% ABV.

Experimenting with different flavor profiles is a huge part of who we are and there’s no denying coffee is one of our favorite ingredients. Our sterling cast of iterations of coffee beers also includes Breakfast Stout, Kentucky Breakfast Stout, Canadian Breakfast Stout and Frangelic Mountain Brown. A special hat tip to our local neighbors and friends at Ferris Coffee & Nut Co.for providing us with only the finest coffee.

Though it’s become a beloved taproom-exclusive option here at the brewery, this is the first time we’ve bottled Sumatra Mountain Brown. It’s the third release in our specialty lineup of 2016, accompanied by Imperial Stout, Curmudgeon Old Ale, reDANKulous and Breakfast Stout. See the full 2016 availability calendar here.

Jonesin’ for a sip? You can find it in our taproom beginning April 29 and across our distribution footprint (which now includes 37 states!) beginning May 2. It will be available in 12oz 4-packs with a suggested retail price of $11.99."

Super excited for this release. Had this on tap at Founders a couple times and the coffee is unreal! Straight up smells like a cup of coffee.

That's probably pretty close to what it'll cost around here, considering the price of some of their other limited release beers.

The only thing we know for sure, both of these beers will be better than their next backstage release

Founders kills it when it comes to dark beers, KBS, FBS, FIS, Founders Porter, I'm pretty sure Sumatra Mountain Brown will be great as well, definitely picking up a four-pack soon as I see it. I'll give Palm Reader a try as well.

Tried the Palm Reader today - was a decent beer for a Pale Ale but nothing special. I have to say that the Michigan made Crystal and Super-Saazer hops worked nicely in this Pale Ale. I've had a few IPA's with the Michigan hops and I haven't been a big fan.

This being said, if I'm staring at a 6 pack of this and Mosaic Promise both still fresh, I'm picking up the Mosaic Promise........

Really looking forward to trying the Sumatra Brown, but I'll pass on Palm Reader as I rarely care for Founder's IPA's with the exceptions being fresh double trouble and Doom

picked up some Palm Reader last night bottled 10 days ago. Really good beer. Probably the best I have had with all Michigan grown hops. Clean and crisp. Maybe I was so impressed because its only 10 days old but either way I'll be buying more. Sumatra Mountain Brown is awesome as well. Very drinkable but a ton of great flavor. Will be buying more of both.

For the Michigan people that have tried Sumatra....how does it stack up to Perrin Hotbox?

I'm not from MI but I'd say a better comparison is Blazin Hotbox, both very good imo

Is Sumatra limited where people are seeing it? I found it today with a single bottle limit and was a little surprised.

Weird. I wouldn't expect a bottle limit on this release. Maybe your bottle shop just received a small initial shipment. I think this is supposed to be on the shelf for the next couple months, so more shipments will be incoming.
