That's what I was thinking, I haven't had time to check out other spots but hopefully it was just a fluke. Besides KBS, no other founders beers really see the behind the counter treatment which is why I found this quite odd.

I can't speak for your shop, but from how it sounds, they may be riding the KBS wave. They think any limited/unheard release deserves a behind the counter/2 bottle limit treatment. Are they a new shop?

Here's where it gets funny, they are not a new shop and KBS was a 2 4 pack limit. No limits on the backstage beers either.

Having my first bottle of SMB. Wow, this is outstanding. From the great, full mouthfeel to the spot on coffee aroma & flavor. This is a winner in my book. A must for coffee fans. Hope they make this a yearly release going forward.

Just had a bottle of Palm Reader...not impressed...tastes like they just blended Founders Dry Hopped with Stella Artois...won't be seeking this out again...bottled on 4/11/16

P.S. I like both Stella and Founders Dry Hopped :astonished:

I walked into a bottle shop (on my purchasing rotation) yesterday evening in Omaha and saw several cases of Sumatra Mountain on display selling 4 packs for $11.99, no limit. I picked up two 4 packs and cracked into one bottle- absolutely fantastic. I'm going to hit that bottle shop up this Sunday afternoon and try and score a couple more 4 packs before the word spreads..

    Peace...

What the heck is this "just had a bottle of Sumatra" stuff? It's not supposed to hit until May 2nd. :astonished:

A bottle shop here in Omaha got an early shipment of it Friday. I picked up four 4 packs at $11.99 each.. the bottle I'm drinking right now is obviously very fresh, with a bottle date of 04/12/16..

The store still had 3 cases of it left as of this afternoon, but it's moving pretty quickly. If you can get your hands on it, it's worth every penny.. A fantastic brew..

    Peace...

It's around in Wisconsin, bottle limits everywhere I've seen it. Usually means they didn't get much and want to make sure everyone can try it.
Thought it was pretty good. The coffee is almost overwhelming, but the base beer is solid enough to peek through. Definitely not worth chasing a truck for though.

SMB is very good - best new beer Founders has put out in a long time. And at $9.99 it's also priced right too.

Is Palm Reader a one batch offering or something available all summer?

SMB sounds sooo good. Can't wait to start seeing it around me. Palm Reader doesn't intrigue me as much because I generally prefer Founders' darker beers, but I'll definitely give that one a shot too if/when I see it.

Just had my first experience with SMB this weekend and this beer is extremely well done and damn close to my new favorite from Founders. As I got lower in the glass this beer only got richer. Glad I grabbed 2 4pks but sure hoping to see multiple shipments of this one.

It should have the same availability as all of their "specialty series", beers like Breakfast Stout and Imperial Stout.

Had the Palm Reader the other night. It is clean, crisp, and easy to drink.

I liked the palm reader. It kind of struck me as a fancy/craft lawnmower beer. Very crisp & drinkable.

Palm Reader was waay better than I expected. It also flew off the shelves. Are people really trading a "rare" pale ale? Really?
