Twin Cities Bottle Hunt - 2016 Edition

Picked it up at Elevated in White Bear. They were not even open last year in April and from what someone said up above the the 4/16 references April 2016 & not April 16th.

Not sure I would call it a malt bomb but the beer definitely tasted sweeter to me than last years batch. Not the best way to highlight the hop character IMO. The Citra was there but seemed muted to me.

 

Well that saved me a trip. I wonder how many of those purchasers actually tried the beer before buying? Know what was the price?

 

I also found it to be too malt forward to be able to properly showcase the citra hops. I got called out on Untappd by someone from Bank for my comment about it being to malty. I had the same thoughts about the first batch last May. I've enjoyed some of the other Hop Labs quite a bit, just not this one all that much.
This is also not the first time being called out by someone from the beewery regarding a rating I gave one of their beers.

 

$15.99 per bottle. I'm sure no one tried it before buying since it just went on tap at the Waconia taproom this afternoon. Just another example of if you make a BA stout it will sell out even if your brewery has never tried to make one before.

 

EP liquor store by Byerlys has fresh pompei. Ask them about it, it was in the cooler but not displayed.

 

After trying it that would of been just above the threshold of what I would of been willing to spend.

 

In regards to the Bank Blue Hop Lab, I bought a bottle at Zipps April 8th and drank it on the 13th. Bottling date is wrong but the beer is fresh, not old.

Looked back at my old Untappd check-in from May 23th, 2015 and that bottle was dated 5-15.

I agree with the newer batch being much less enjoyable than the previous one. I drain poured 90% of it.

 

Ah ok, thanks for the clarifications guys. Duh that the 16 is the year and not like 4/16/15 or 4/16/16 etc. I should have realized that!

 

Still plenty of Cassian at Nova. O'so Scarlet Letter also.

 

About a dozen cases at nova of cassian limit 3- 4/pks.

 

Casanova just tweeted more CW Rye Chocolate Porter just arrived- 4 bottle limit

 

Was in Hudson getting a case of Cassian Sunset and saw that Chicone's also has 3 Floyds Yum Yum 6 packs. Grabbed one even though it was dated mid January.

 

Any idea how much Cassian Sunset Nova got? Debating making the 45 minute drive over.

 

FYI, Tom was a brewer at Fulton. I trust that he's made plenty of barrel aged beers.

I just left Casanova and they have a solid 10 cases of both Cassean Sunset and Rye Chocolate Porter left.

 

Since Beer Advocate will never get around to merging the Bank Brewing listings, I inadvertently reviewed the beer again. Before I deleted the latest one I discovered I liked this newest one a little more.

 

Anyone know where I can find a bottle of Bourye?
