Thought it would be more sour. Taste was a bit bland. Is a great beer on a hot day though.

Just looked at WLL and they have Blue Lady and Standard Issue on the new arrivals. WTF Pipeworks!

I was getting some buttery notes from Blue Lady, which I get from all beers I've tried with Sorachi Ace. Which is, BTW, why I didn't try Something Hoppy.

I'm not an FWB. I just saw it on the shelf and picked it up.

They made a new batch with i believe twice as many peaches that is wayy more "peachy", totally different color, taste, nose. Hopefully they get it bottled up soon.

    Edit: still not "sour" though

I thought Perennial's Peach Berliner was pretty bland as well. Had it on tap at the Great Taste and left pretty disappointed with it. There just wasn't much going on with it to warrant another pour. The blueberry flanders, on the other hand, was fucking incredible.

Don't freak! =p Adam was getting his Orval tattoo today and labels weren't ready in time to deliver on Tuesday =(
So, first thing tomorrow morning beer is going to Castle Vav so he can do a proper release. FwB e-mail will go out tonight/morning. That's what FwB is for, might have hit shelfs for a couple stores today, but there will be one with your name on it at Binny's in Lincoln Park.

shouldn't be any buttery notes in Blue Lady at all... a lot of wheat though! There are almost no hops to speak of in Berliners... especially not Sorachi Ace!

and our Berliner we think is PLENTY sour/tart.

I'm no brewer so I want to ask --- Does Pipeworks intend to have a Berliner out regularly and is this not a style that takes many months to produce?

Not sure the length it usually takes for a Berliner but Blue lady was brewed in bottled in about 5 weeks.

    Is Blue Lady FwB only?

Berliners aren't usually über sour or that complex a malt or hop profile, that's why the traditional ones get a syrup added. It's sour mashed wheat (usually with some barley) with some lacto (natural I assume knowing the brewers did time in Belgium). I can't wait to try this and won't go into looking for a blaeber cantillon, but instead a delicious, subtle sour flavor and a great drinkable Berliner.

Looks like WLV is out. Is Binny's getting it today? I REALLY don't want to miss the Berliner.

    September 6, 2012 Update:

This week brings us the much anticipated release of our Blue Lady Berliner Weisse aged with Fresh Blueberries!!! We think this beer is very delicious. It's also on the far sour end of the spectrum for the style. So word of warning if you don't like sour beers you might not like this one. Blue Lady is completely a lemony (lactic acid) sourness though, which most people can tolerate better than a vinegary (acetic acid) sourness (which is undesirable in this style of beer). 4.0% ABV in 750ml champagne bottles for $11.99. We LOVE this beer! It's very refreshing.

Also being released this week is our Standard Issue IPA, 7.5%ABV with Cascade & Columbus hops, $7.99/22oz bottle.

    In Other News:

    - Bottle shop is still in a holding pattern for now, however, in the past month we can tell that we are turning a corner. We installed a 5th fermenter so we could brew beers that need to sit in primary fermentation longer without disrupting our normal production schedule. Tomorrow we are brewing Abduction, our Imperial Stout, into the new tank! We worked really hard to get here, and you trusted us with your money to build you a brewery you could enjoy and be proud of. We certainly walked some thin, risky, lines trying to build a production brewery with less than $100,000 in start-up capital in the city of Chicago!!! Somehow we're here though! We've come too far to chance it again, so we're doing what is best for the financial security of the brewery and holding off on the bottle shop until we are sure we have the proper capital to do it right and not risk what we've already accomplished. As mentioned before, we are indeed turning a corner and are very close to taking that next step. Not to mention excited to do so!

-Also, quick switch-a-roo on you (for those following Facebook posts), Raspberries are fresh right now so we're putting those in the next Berliner, not Peaches. Peaches will be in the following Berliner though.

    - The hops for Unicorn's Revenge are somewhere on a cargo ship (we hope) on its way here from New Zealand. Once they are here... Revenge is on! We already had the labels printed and everything... =p

    - Look for one of our favorite beers next week: At Her Majesty's Pleasure, an English Summer Ale with Nelson Sauvin Hops (our favorite hop!). And Something Hoppy should be rereleased as well

Did you ask if they had it at WLV? They're short on shelf space and a lot of their new stuff is in the back. FWIW, I was there last night and bought 3 after I asked if they still had it.
