I jokingly suggested a week ago that we all drink through our supplies, but now that seems like sage advice. Queuing up bottle 2 of 3, may have it tomorrow...

Checked my stash just now and saw the dreaded 10/21 bottle date on all five bottles, code 0909 purchased in PA. Cracked one and thankfully absolutely perfect.

I am not saying any one batch is safe. I am not suggesting that specific dates are safe while others are not. I am only suggesting that the codes will help document this issue. My gut is its all gonna head south eventually.

Shared a couple the other day with a friend:

Prop 18sep15 1748 -- sour tangy drain pour

    Reg 29sep15 1430 -- as good as any 2015 bottle I've had

The fact that when we opened the Prop it didn't gush I felt relieved but the minute I smelled it knew it was facked... completely unacceptable on GI's part to not acknowledge

Thank you for sharing. Gonna make sure I have supplies on hand next time I open one - just in case. Also going to try this for shits and giggles with the one remaining barleywine I'm still holding onto for some ungodly reason. Bottoms up!

Cracked open a 11/04/15, 1018, 14.3ABV last night. Absolutely perfect in every way.. Have another 11/04/15 bottle stored for enjoyment later this summer- perhaps 4th of July weekend..

    Peace...

Me too. Plenty of perfectly good '09 Abyss when infection was discovered in some. I don't think any escaped in the long run. Am saving a couple of my BCBS just to test that theory, the rest are being consumed now.

I refuse to rush thru and inhale my stash. I have under 10 bottles of regular one Regal and one Rare. They're at 50 and dark, that's the best I can do. If they turn they turn, but I have to be in the mood to enjoy them too, I can't pound them like a sixer of IPAs. I'll nibble away faster than usual, but it's still not going to be fast. Of the two I drank if it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't even have the word infection in my thoughts, they were absolutely flawless.

I hate to add any confusion to this issue, but last night I popped a 22OCT15 0729 14.3% also purchased in Illinois. No sign of infection.

I had a bottle of infected BCBBW (29OCT15 1516 12.9%), so the cherry tartness is all too familiar. None of that in the bottle I drank last night. And it's been at about 60 degrees since release.

Had an October 21 1153 from case I got in pa and it was off. I have not knowingly ever had an infected beer so cannot be certain. Perhaps my pallete has changed but this had a little fruity or something not familiar in it. I couldn't finish it which has never happened before for me with a BC. Going to have a 14 in the next week to test my pallet before I get concerned.

Just opened my first of two bottles from lot 10NOV15 - not good. Spritzy cherry with a tart edge to it is how I would describe it. Was able to drink 1/3 of the bottle before I had to drain pour the rest.

OK, just cracked bottle 2 of 3 from my cellar, and this too has no sign of infection. It is dated October 6th. Will probably drink the last one in the next couple of weeks - why take chances?

It's not subtle. It's sour cherry, metal, you can't miss it.

lol this beer must be really top notch considering all of the 'bad' bottles people have gotten. when I tried it, it was good, it wasnt stunning, definitely wasnt infected. but at what point does the fact that you cant reliably produce a quality beer diminish your reputation?? at the same time im actively trying to trade for another bottle because I want to try it again. but having drank it side by side with KBS, I cant understand all the commotion.

so clever, more accurately ... "after eating oranges side by side with apples, and having heard much about infected oranges, I cant understand why people wouldnt just eat apples"

lol im just saying theres plenty of excellent beers to buy and you never hear a whiff of complaint about contamination. on the other hand the first thing I think of when I hear bcbs is contamination.
