Hilarious. I never accused you of anything.

Why would you not purchase from 18th if they sell outside of the event was all I asked.

You flat out said I just want to trade the bottles.

My point was if they want them available to everyone just do a release with a first come first serve basis and don't make some pay $70 and then turn around and sell to all.

So I'm entitled because I decided to pay the money to go to this event to also purchase bottles and then would feel cheated if after the event people who didn't pay for the same thing got everything people who paid did?

Well it would be niave. Its the exact same situation as last year and he sold extra bottles then. You just paid a little more than last year

Bitches please. People got rustled jimmies when Dark Matter sold leftover "exclusive" glasswhalez online the Sunday after DLD.

    Lots of angry rain-soaked neckbeards...

I'm not saying I wouldn't feel the same way as you, but is the $70 really supposed to factor in the rights to buy bottles, or is it for the rest of the event, in particular the 7 different BA beers you get access to? Just a thought to ponder.

They had everything on tap last year after the event too. If I only paid $25 I wouldnt care. They want to up the price that much then I expect a certain amount of exclusivity to the whole thing. Also there were plenty of tickets left for days after going on sake. My point was I don't want people to whine if bottles aren't available after the event.

Just chiming in here. I was looking forward to this event and may have even considered parting with the cost of entry if two things were different:

    1. It wasn't the day before DLD
    2. The DD tickets included an allotment (and were a bit cheaper)

That way my GF (who isn't a big drinker) could attend with me and get bottles without seriously breaking the bank after I had already dropped $$$ on DLD.

It seems that won't happen and I'm a bit bummed. I haven't had any of their beers and would really like to try them. Oh well...

Just saying don't tell me why I want the bottles and infer I am a hoarder and not expect me to defend myself.

I see the general point here. If I had paid/been ripped off $75 for the right to pay extra for guest drafts and the power hour-ish setup to get through all the 18th St. BA offerings before the session ends and then try and find a ride home without getting a DUI, I would absolutely attribute some inherent 'value' in the right to purchase bottles.

It wouldn't be a hoarding/beer trading thing, it would be a 'wow, that was really shitty that he/they said they wouldn't sell bottles after, so I felt a little better about my purchase cause I guess it's kind of exclusive in a way or whatever, and then he/they turned around and sold bottles anyways because only 100 people bought tickets for Session 2 and there were a ton of extras.'

To be honest, the question wasn't really why you want the bottles. That's your business. I was more interested in why you wouldn't support them any longer if they made the widely available if they had some left over and wanted to make a profit on them.

Only because they charged so much to get into event only to turn around and make same thing available to everyone else who didn't pay. Last year it was $25 who cares, but if you are gonna charge that much I think there are certain expectations surrounding the event. I may fell different if it was all inclusive but I still have to pay for every bottle I get on top of the price of admission.

I am going to the event, it was a tough choice, but in the end I hope it is well ran and I'm looking to have a good time. I think it would be a classy move (especially after some questionable moves) for 18th street to account for additional bottles to be sold (or given, one can always hope, right?) to those attending the event by adjusting the allotments. They already have the number of tickets sold and the bottles waxed, so I'd think this is manageable. Hopefully, the allotment can also be even for both sessions. Clearly, I'm only talking about the bottles of Bank, I'm certain that even if there was no limit on the Belgian and Barelywine there are going to be bottles left over. Last year the allotments were adjusted for the better, so I hope this year is the same.

My opinion is that you are paying the $$ for the party and taps at the party. If $75 is too much for what you are getting at the party then don't go. Sure you get first dibs on bottles too but don't be mad if there are extras that go on-sale to general public later. Smaller scale but Saugatuck here in MI just did that last weekend. They had a Barrel Aged Bootleg Bash ($$ for ticket to attend) where they released BA Imperial Neapolitan for additional purchase, limit 6 per attendee. Next day it was released to the public, 2 case limit.

For anyone interested in consuming these bottles, why does "exclusive access" even matter at all? The beer will taste just the same (or it should ) regardless of whether only ticket holders purchased them or not. The only category of people who are dreading whether bottles are sold outside of the event are traders and resellers imo.

Or the people who ponied up the $75 only to turn around and see anybody could get them.

Did they say bottles would only be available at the event? Because 18th St has said this.

Are you ignoring or forgetting that among other things the ticket price includes 7 5oz pours built into the price? Are you just going to throw your 7 pours into the nearest plant and then shout "Give me my bottles now!".
