The Veil Brewing - Richmond

The weeks that they keeping cranking out the staple IPA's, I'd guess the release days will calm down after the new-ness wears off and everyone has stocked up.
I went on Sunday when cans were available and it wasn't that busy at all around 12-1ish. No parking problems, plenty of seating inside, etc. There was a small line for cans but really the only reason anyone could maybe call it slow was due to the one register. If they had a second person with an ipad card swiper it would have dissipated pretty fast imo, it really wasn't a big deal.

 

Another update from Veil less than 10 minutes ago. Hope they keep this up. That is "keeping us in the loop" at it's finest.

Fresh cans of Crucial Taunt(our double IPA) rolling off the line. Immediately after this run, we will begin canning Master Shredder(our wheat IPA). When our tasting room doors open today at 4pm, the oldest can available will have been canned less than 7 hours prior to opening. That's pretty dang fresh! We have less than 110 cases of Crucial Taunt available and we will have less than 60 cases of Master Shredder(which will not be available in cans next week). *THESE WILL NOT SEE DISTRO AND CAN ONLY BER PURCHASED FROM THE TASTING ROOM.*

Crucial Taunt will be 1 case per person($13/4-pack and $78/case+tax).

Master Shredder will be 3 4-packs per person($13/4-pack).

We still have platinum glassware, some shirts/hoodies, and Grand Opening posters(100% of proceeds go to SCAN, Stop Child Abuse Now)for sale.

On draft, we have all 4 beers from our Grand Opening:
-Master Shredder(wheat IPA)
-Crucial Taunt(double IPA)
-Dull Fangs(IPA with Southern Hemisphere hops and organic grapefruit;*VERY LIMITED SUPPLY AND WE MIGHT NEVER MAKE IT AGAIN*)
-Sleeping Forever(our anniversary Imperial Stout;*VERY LIMITED SUPPLY AND WE WONT BE RELEASING THIS AGAIN UNTIL NEXT YEAR*)

I was up in RVA this past weekend and got to go hit up the grand opening. It was pretty well run besides the fact that you had to wait in a long line just to get in even if all you did was want to drink. Eventually they sent someone thru the line to ID and wristband people and then you could just walk right in and purchase tickets inside. Its a really nice facility, wish i couldve gone upstairs and seen the koelschip. Master shredder should become the staple of RVA hops, its really a special beer. Congrats to everyone involved and I cant wait to try more of the beer and visit again soon.

 

I love that they've only ever released 4 beers, and 2 of them are already "very limited supply".

 

very limited supply of the draft left. the cans for those beers are already sold out.
the stout won't be available again till next year and who knows if the Dull Fangs will ever be made again...

 

What @ncaudle said. Sleeping Forever will be the beer they release annually on their anniversary so what they have left on draft will be all that is produced until next year. Definitely no more cans. And unless I read wrong, next year will be Barrel Aged so unless their mind is changed the regular SF will never (according to Veil) be brewed again for sale. it read like each year's anniversary will be a variant of the original.

With the plans not to can Master Shreddar next week I'm thinking they are prepping to roll out 1, maybe 2, of the other cans they have shown us already (Child Support or Hornswoggler) pretty soon....

 

Yeah, that's what the post from the brewery says. Sounds like if you want to try them you better get there early today otherwise you'll be missing out on these beers for a long, long time.

 

They said in a reply on Facebook, that they have enough to last until Friday, but after that, no promises.

 

Interesting. I wonder if the 110ish Taunt and 40ish Shredder cases they mentioned releasing today is just what they are capping for today and more may be released each day this week? Those numbers do not seem like much to last the week knowing RVA #newmoney. After last weekend, I'm sure they know not to underestimate turnout.

 

They were referring to Dull Fangs and Sleeping Forever on draft, not the can release.

 

Yeah, I thought he was referencing the two draft options since he said you won't be seeing them for a long, long time. Master Shredder and Crucial Taunt are regular release beers. I was there at bit after open, and there was a line. Seemed like a bunch of people were grabbing multiple four packs. I can possibly see some cans being left over for tomorrow, but I would not bet on it.

 

I went just about at 9 and got a 4 pack of each MS and CT. So there would seem to be some for Wednesday.

 

Haven't heard of this but am excited to try !!!!!!!!

 

From their update it reads like what's left probably won't make it past the first hour or so after they open doors up today.

"We have less than 14 cases of Master Shredder and less than 24 cases of Crucial Taunt. Limits remain the same:1 case per person of Crucial Taunt($13/4-pack...$78/case+tax) and 3 4-packs per person of Master Shredder($13/4-pack+tax).

We still have all 4 beers on draft:Master Shredder, Crucial Taunt(extremely limited supply!), Dull Fangs(IPA with Southern Hemisphere hops and grapefruit; limited supply), and Sleeping Forever(anniversary imperial stout; extremely limited supply!). We will be releasing 2 new beers next week in cans and draft. Details to come as we get closer."

 

This week's cans sold out in little more than 24 hours (released Tues and sold out Wed). They already posted that next week's canning will be done on Wednesday and released when they open at 4pm. Limited amount of Crucial Taunt. NO Master Shredder. Will have 2 new cans, one of which is below. The two new beers will be available on draft beginning Tuesday.

"The two new beers are the following:

*IdontwanttoBU-6.9% 0 IBU IPA w/Citra and Mosaic. We try to refrain from using the excessively used terminology "juice/juicy" for our IPAs, but this is seriously just straight up hop juice. We love this one and we hope you do too.

*Snozzwanger-4.4% Session Chocolate Milk Stout. Snozzwanger is a creature that eats Oompa Loompas. This is the little brother to our soon to be released flagship offering Hornswoggler(7% Robust Chocolate Milk Stout). We will also be releasing Whangdoodle at some point for cans/draft/barrels. The imperial, big brother to both."

 

I thought the "0 IBU" must have been a typo, at first, before I parsed out the name of the beer. I need some more coffee.

 

How were the lines last Tuesday? Probably will show up around 530 tomorrow

 

I got there at 415 or so last Tuesday and waited about 15 minutes. You should be fine at 530. They also said they were figuring out a way to expedite the process as well.

"Here is what's for sale today in cans:

-IdontwanttoBU-6.9%-0 IBU IPA hopped exclusively with Citra and Mosaic. This is straight hop juice. Drinks like its 4%. We love this one and hope you do too. There will be less than 65 cases available. 3x 4-packs per person/$13+tax per 4-pack.

-Snozzwanger-4.4%-Session Chocolate Milk Stout. Snozzwanger is a creature that eats Oompa Loompas and is the little brother to our soon to be released Robust Chocolate Milk Stout HORNSWOGGLER. This was an experimental batch. It may or may not be released again. For being such a low ABV, it is incredibly complex and full bodied. There will be less than 65 cases available. 3x 4-packs per person/$12.50+tax per 4-pack.

-Crucial Taunt-8%-our flagship Double IPA. This is one of the best batches we've released so far. Crucial Taunt will NOT be available next week in cans, so come get your fix this week. There are less than 65 cases available. 3x 4-packs per person/$14+tax per 4-pack.

All 3 of these beers will be available in half and full pours for on site consumption. We also still have Master Shredder(our flagship wheat IPA) on draft in very limited quantities. NITRO cold brewed coffee on draft courtesy of our friends Lamplighter Roasting Company and charcuterie plates(meat&cheese and just cheese) available by our friends at Barrel Thief Wine Shop & Cafe.
