I take it you will be skipping City Works 14oz Furious for $6.50 plus tax? That place has outrageous pricing.

I just paid over $400 for 4 of us to eat up at the brewer's table and I don't think I overpaid for the meal. The food, service and beer were all fantastic. Easily one of the best meals I've had in Minneapolis. To each his own I guess....

Interesting. We were at the brewer's table a couple of weeks ago. The prices were ridiculous, the food in the beer hall is vastly superior, & the portions were tiny. I know a lot of people love the Food Network, but paying $90 per person & then having to stop at McDonald's afterwards because you're still hungry is ridiculous. We'd never go back, but to each his own I guess...

Well, OK. But only if @mrpeterandthepuffers shaves & doesn't talk. And sits at a different table. That works for me.

My family is in the camp with food trucks and breweries. We don't eat a traditional restaurants when we go out downtown. I want fresh beer and and fresh food, I get them both at most breweries.

Then again, I don't get to tell people that I've eaten at a fancy place... and then stopped at McDonald's on the way home.

    To each his own indeed!

Ha! We didn't actually stop at McDonald's because their food isn't really food at all, but we talked about it. And yes, most food trucks kick ass & don't charge you a white linen fee.

There is space for both, but if I'm spending that much it better be top notch, and based on the beer hall food I wouldn't take the chance at the fancy restaurant. Plus, I'm not a fan of the head chef.

Now, I've gone to Spoon and Stable and that ws worth every penny and I left full as can be. Some days you want that, some days your want Butcher Salt hot dog.

Question on the Surly beer hall. Was it always the plan that to sit at one of the tables you had to be eating food? There's been a few times that I didn't go because I want to sit down to just have a beer. I hate being a seat vulture at the bar waiting for people to leave. It's not bad when the weather is nice as there's plenty of seating outside but in the winter it's rough. When I do eat there the pretzel, hog frites and burger are my favorites. Sunday's they have ribs and I love those.

    Turtle's has awesome fried chicken!

I've never had a long wait at the beer hall, maybe it's because I don't drive down there on a Friday night but I've been a half dozen times and have always been able to find a seat at the bar or have been seated at a table in under 10 minutes.

In regards to Turtle's, please no one drive from the cities to Shakopee expecting to get a gourmet burger and hand cut seasoned fries. It's a dive bar but they usually/always have good beer.

On Mondays you can get a half price burger + $3 pint. The total comes to like $9 including fries or tots. It feels like you're stealing from them.

Last time I went they had BA Silhouette on and it wasn't included in the $3 pints but it was half price during happy hour so it came out to $2.50 for 10oz. The bill for me and Mrs. for burgers, fries, and 40 oz of BA Silhouette was just over $20 pre-tip.

Yikes, my wife and I loved Brewers table...and left quite full. Been to a few of the more popular foodie joints in town and that is close to top on our list. The octopus and that chocolate desert were particularly memorable.

Convenient though, If like me, you really want to ask him who the Minnesota Bears are.

Turtles is a great spot if you live in that area, no doubt. Not a place I'd go out of my way for though. With that said, I'm holding my upcoming wedding at the Social Centre, so I approve of what Brian Turtle has going on.

I know that answer. They are the 1985 world champs and owners of the all-time best Defense.

Also, how can they put 4 on and say it will only last a few days? Brew a bigger batch!!

Is 4 really going to only last a few days? I was just there last night and it will be tough for me to find time to get there the rest of this week.

If you can't make it don't feel bad, you'd have to pay 50 cents more per glass so is it really worth it????:stuck_out_tongue:

You can eat and drink at home. That works, too. I'll dish out the extra $.50.

Just wish Surly could make it an even $10 a pint , I don't like digging for spare change! .. When is that AB InBev announcement ? Q3 is my guess.

In all seriousness if you want a cheap decent beer try the Blue Door Pub . I regularly pay $2.50- $3.50 for some top notch beers here during their daily happy hours and they do always have a couple Surly handles . Burgers are not bad either.
