Just noticed that multiple shops in PDX have 3-4 beers from Prairie Artisan ales (including Bomb!) for sale. I had the hoppy farmhouse and double IPA last night and really liked both of them.

Ive been a big fan of their beers and finding their stuff in Portland has been few and far between (Beaumont market had 'Merica for a summer a few years ago)

Has there been a change in distribution or was this more of a one-off event? Hopefully there is more to come!

That's good to hear, do you remember what pricing was like?

Just got to try Sump on tap last night, and there seems to be plenty of 17 around right now as well.

Still patiently waiting to see and try the BA Abraxas however...

Agree with you though. I've liked pretty much everything I've been able to try from them so far (though the Owen wasn't particularly mind blowing).

I think you are talking about Perrenial (who also makes awesome beer and also just started distribution out here)

the others were $4-$5 i believe. maybe less

We've been getting consistent Prairie shipments for a while now in Seattle. I'm guessing it's the same situation in Portland.

LOL! You're right. God only knows how or why I read that as Perennial. Please carry on without me.

Bomb! flew off the shelves initially here in Seattle now I see it everywhere and it is gathering dust along with there other fine offerings. I suspect the same thing will happen in PDX. We need more Bomb! variants and Noir variants...please

I picked up a couple of BOMB!s.. really love that beer.

Also thought the DIPA Phantasmagoria was great.

Cheaper than in Spokane. I think Bomb goes for around $11here.

Can't remember the name of it now (it's on the tip of my tongue, but I just can't recall), but I heard tell that some place in Oregon City likely has Phantasmagoria on tap right now.

If I ever do recall the name of the taphouse there, I'm thinking this would be a fun beer to use as a palate cleanser for KDS, C&C Bbomb and regular Bbomb.

Still can't remember that place in Oregon city, but they did have bottles of bomb for 8.75. Nice beer, but not in the same class as the bbomb or cc bbomb, just as the dipa wasn't in the same class as the independence ipa from fremont. The latter ipa was really, really good.

Definitely not in the same class as the Fremont "bombs" or KDS. but for a non BA beer, I really like it.

Also, love the 12oz size. Wish more breweries would do this.

Completely agree. I can manage a 12 ounce bottle by myself, but I really need help if I'm going to open a bomber of a 13% or 14% beer. Also, while I can re-cork a bomber and not lose much carbonation (over night), I usually want no more than a glass a week of something like Bbomb or KDS. The exception is the C&C Bbomb, which I'm kind of glass is fairly scarce, or I'd be drinking it morning, noon and night, and probably every day.

Hey everyone, any sightings of Prairie's new incarnation of Birthday Bomb near Seattle or Portland?

Chucks Hop Shop is apparently getting 10-30 cases on Thursday (05/12) or Friday (05/13)

At first, that seems like a big load for a Prairie delivery. Then again, since it's not one of their barrel-aged releases, maybe this is normal. Curious to see if Shelton Brothers spreads the distro around the Pacific NW or if this will turn into another 'Whale Hunt'.

BTW: Chucks was told this will include more vanilla and coffee compared to previous versions. So is this the same beer as before? I guess you could say yes and no. With the addition of a "caramel drizzle", I'd classify it as a "tweaked version"

I swear this sucker better not be more than $12!

Its not normal. Chucks just happened to get the lions share of the bottles. Birthday Bomb on draft will be around as well. It is Bomb, with an amplified vanilla addition and lactose sugar to increase the creaminess. Should be $10-$11ish per bottle.

Thanks Moose! Had no idea it would be on draft. This will definitely help with how many to buy. Thinking 2-3 bottles would be good if possible.

Not to make too big a deal of this, but I was wondering if I'm the only person who thinks their line-up of beers is a bit over priced. I enjoyed Bomb quite a bit, but remain puzzled by the price tag for a 12 ounce bottle. Arch Bridge had the Vous Francais saison on tap last night, and while I found it enjoyable, I didn't understand the price tag for a beer with a 3.9% abv.($6 for a 12 ounce glass, making it one of the more expensive items on the menu).

Again and again I'm finding myself saying "well, I do like this beer, but not enough to pay what they're asking for it. One of these is likely all I need to have."
