The exchange of money+scratch off= longer lines. If you're given a scratch off right before you're handed your allotment of DL bottles that were previously paid for when you bought your ticket to the event, wouldn't make lines that long at all. Also, if there's no groups, there's no reason to line up if the line is too long for you. A scratch off by itself would not make the lines long.

Yes, I agree, the exchange of cash slows things also. I'll respectfully disagree with your last sentence. The 15 seconds it takes to stand there and scratch the ticket adds up across thousands of (drunk?) people. Emphasis on the 'stand' portion....nobody is walking forward as they scratch the ticket.

Scratch off = jerks gaming the system to grab more scratch offs until they get the variant they want

If you want to randomize variants, just randomize them. Pre-pack the bags and everyone gets handed one.

Alternate: D20s and a shitload of dice towers. Keeping the D&D love affair alive.

I'd 100% be on board with randomized variants. That may or may not "screw" me in terms of getting a variant I like, but it would move things along and would ensure everyone has the same chances throughout the day, which would make the fest more enjoyable, in my opinion (everyone could go whenever they wanted).

No man, the vouchers were free! You literally just hand 4 FFF-illustrated pieces of cardboard over, and get a pile of food! It's awesome!

In all seriousness though, it's probably not worth thinking of in terms of vouchers. That doesn't seem like a great deal for $20, but it's also not that bad for festival pricing (and it looks great).

I never saw the FFF set. I also missed the hot sauce.

Been here a while but never posted a pic...any one mind telling me how to do so?
There were two options?! I was at the merch tent and the double headed axe was the only one they were selling there (naturally I purchased one).

Just to reiterate some of what’s already been said, the north gate entrance for Group A was just a trash fire. The line was so long because so many non-Group As were in there. 3 Floyds, if you can have 6 people making sure we don’t take a beer OUT of the festival you can’t tell me you can’t spare ONE person to walk down the line to say ‘Group A only’ and another at the start of the snake line to kick anyone without an A pass out. There were a lot of rightfully pissed off people that did exactly what 3 Floyds said and ended up behind B. Gotta change that next year guys.

I was a bit horrified to read about all the theft that went on. Happy to say our group didn’t see it. We did see a whole lot of people that didn’t know how to pace themselves (I thinking of the dude in front of us in the Patriots jersey that MUST have spent the afternoon getting treated for alcohol poisoning) and I’d like to think the ‘theft’ inside the festival was idiots that were so drunk they thought they could get away with picking up an extra tote bag of beer. I’m sure there were some “professionals” outside the gates but I’d be willing to bet most of what went on inside was due to too much drinking.

The taps were pretty hit or miss from what we heard about past years. Someone should have had the sense to pull things like Yum Yum off when it didn’t kick after 3 hours in multiple locations. That said there were some amazing beers if you caught them at the right time – Dwarven Power Bottom, BA Behemoth and Outskirts were amazing.

All that said, the thing that really separates DLD from any other beer fest or release is the great people sharing great bottles. I can’t say enough about people just walking around asking if you’ve tried this or that and then cracking one open to share. Here’s a shout out of thanks to everyone that shared with us and I’ll go back for that alone.

Does anyone have a pic of the Floyd's snifters? I missed those as well. Was hoping to get those and not the DM ones, but then missed on both!

I would gladly pay $20 worth of sunk cost, worthless-outside-of-DLD vouchers for that. Certainly better than leaving with vouchers in your pocket (or handing them out as you leave).

So, if I came home with a set of gold and platinum, does that mean I dropped $50??? (Really hoping the answer is no....)

I did the same thing. Will probably see if someone wants a gold and silver in a trade or post it for sale somewhere. It's probably at worst a break even mistake.
