Do tell about Allegiant. They have just entered ABQ and are offering $58 RT flights. I was gonna jump all over that. Should I reconsider?

Just expect to be charged for extras like seatbelts and breathable air.

I'm thinking he has one, otherwise he couldn't ship out the mass quantities he has sent in the past.

Are ya a thrillseeker? They have a terrible maintenance record, and, um, "incidents" aren't uncommon:

http://www.bellinghamherald.com/news/state/washington/article75304307.html ( in fairness, this could happen to any airline, and the flightcrew did the right thing: Aviate, Navigate, Communicate. They were a bit busy, and there's really nothing you can tell the passengers). And, ya sorta have to separate the wheat from the chaff in this thread, but there is some actual knowledge: http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/general_aviation/read.main/6685349/

Allegiant's business model is to buy used planes as cheaply as possible (they have lots of old MD-80 variants. One can be had as low as $2 million. They burn fuel, but with the cheap cost to acquire it works out) and only fly them as needed. Where they make their money, is on the packages. They are basically a hotel/tourism company that owns some planes. Apparently, they try to save money on maintenance: http://www.tampabay.com/news/busine...says-he-quit-over-obscene-maintenance/2260591

Some googling will bring up a bunch of stuff. Last year, one of the execs was piloting a flight on a weekend to stay current with his license, and didn't know the destination airport as going to be closed for an airshow: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/allegiant-air-pilot-pleads-atc-make-emergency-landing-closed-airport/.

They fly out of my town, and I have a friend who is a Flight Attendant for them. She's just getting experience so she can catch on with another airline (Alaska she hopes, they also fly out of Bham too).

I'll be in Minneapolis next week. Usually hit Town Hall, Surly, Fulton, etc. Any locals going to be around?

Jaysus, this is the airline equivalent of Chinatown buses, apparently.

You should add Sisyphus and Dangerous Man to that list! 2 years back my father and I watched a Twins game, headed over to Fulton and then did a long walk to the Mississippi, crossed the bridge and entered the neighborhood where Dangerous Man is. From there we headed to Indeed and Bauhaus as well (both well worth it too!). Nice beer crawl. A couple others were in the mix in that area (612 I think as well as some hard to find cidery) but the ones I mentioned above are the ones I recommend.

That said, $60 for a quick weekend... I love to fly, and if they offered a special from here, like they did when they first opened the market, I can't say I'd say no to +/- $100 weekend trip to San Diego. Information, it's good to have.

Yeah, Sisyphus, Indeed were part of my etc. I have not been to Dangerous Man though. Will check it out. Its a business trip, but my evenings are free! I go about 3 times a year.

Agreed. Even given your information, I'll still probably take advantage of that ABQ to Austin flight at least once.
