That was probably the best part of my day.

Agreed. Played a nice mix of music. Heard everything from ODB to Faith No More.

It's starting to seem like no one has--those bottles are going to be in an endless loop of circulating in shipping trucks and planes.

Interestingly enough, I think Nick Floyd has gone on record as preferring DL with a couple years on it. So it seems like FFF might not be releasing DL when they think it's ready.

I would imagine there's a pretty large subset of people who get one or the other with the express purpose of trading/selling it.

I was thinking something along these lines just yesterday, as well. Not specifically about those two, but just about the variants in general. I got a BBDL, and wish I could have a chance to taste the other variants. It'd be really cool to be able to get a tasting of some of them together sometime down the road to give people the chance to try a few different ones. I'm pretty sure I don't need to drink the whole bottle of BBDL by myself.

I agree that VR isnt really similar to BVDL. Just trying to compare the better known vanilla stouts for reference. Although that being said VR at rare day tasted exactly like vanilla cake. That to me is the only beer that has come close to integrating vanilla as well as BVDL does.

if someone could pull off getting together all 15 variants at a bottle share, I would probably never drink beer again after that.

Would be awesome, to say the least, but I'd want to taste at least a little more than a thimble full of each lmao.

Hell, I would just be excited to get 3-5 different ones!

BTW, it seems like even Group E were able to get current year variants. Did anyone have experience (or directly know of someone) going near the end and being left with the 2015 variants? I kinda wondered if they have even more variants leftover this year than they did last year.

Thank you to all the drunk drivers out there...next year I hope you get caught.

I parked my car at one of the major lots near FFF. I asked about overnight parking. They said sure, go right ahead. There must have been room to hold 200 cars in that lot.

I came back at 6:00am the next morning. THERE WERE 2 FUCKING CARS IN THE LOT. One being mine.

    198 designated drivers? Yea right!

Same here. An ideal setting would be to get no more than 6 IMO. That way you get at least 4 oz.

Our group of six plan to get together for a variant party. We have FVM, Stop hitting yourself, Ronaldo, Trump and Pump, Temeculan, & Biggleswade ('15)

Oh well guess I should have looked earlier, but it appears someone has opened and reviewed their FVM after all.

I don't remember this being present yesterday so maybe they rated it Sunday but typed the review out today...?

On a different note, someone said Trump and Pump is not named after the Donald. What is the story behind that name then?

I was group E, I could have cried tears of joy that '15 Earl, '15 Muerte, and '16 Muerte were sold out. I had the choice of Trump, Legia, '15 Akvavit, and Quit Hitting Yourself.

I was too drunk to pay much attention to what was left. I had Group E as well and Temeculan 3000, Trump, Power Bottom were at least there. I already knew I wanted Trump and Pump because I love the name and thought the wine barrel could be interesting. I knew I'd have bottom of the barrel(s) selection so I was happy with anything that wasn't a '15 although Aquavit could be nice.

Grabbed Trump and Pump and my buddy grabbed a Dwarven Power Bottom. The 3000 probably was the better choice but I'm in the minority that is 100% satisfied with my Dark Lord experience

I am finally back at home in Texas( arrived yesterday) after spending all day Sunday hibernating in my hotel room simply just recovering from the night before. This was my first DLD as some of you may or may not have been aware. Here is my take on my personal experience:

    Things I did great
    - Planned for the crap weather. I came overly prepared and glad I did because at the end of the day my body was dry though a bit sweaty from standing all day long.
    - Took the shuttle. I was in no shape or form to be driving a vehicle that night and there was no way I would sleep in a car with that weather after spending all day outdoors.
    - Paced myself ( though more on this also below).

    Things I did bad
    - Went into the North Line. I was on group C and I absolutely had no business being in the north line at all, however I made friends with a handful of really cool people on that North Line which decided to stay. I too was trapped on that line with an urge to urinate that has been the worst, I have ever been in my life.
    - EAT. Yes I brought plenty food in my backpack which stayed there the entire day. I kept on sharing, and people kept sharing with me, next thing I know it is 11pm and I'm in my hotel room shitting malt and barley.
    - Go with a companion if you can. While I have made friends at the end of the night, when the curtains close we are all responsible to handle ourselves, those who came with others had that chance to take care of each other, myself on the other hand, had to be responsible to finding my way back without a handler, even if it was a slightly incapacitated one.
    - Pace yourself. I thought I did a decent job at this, however by 8:30-9pm and I am trucking back to the shuttle line, I had to pull aside a puke for the first time in 5 years, while I was not in bad shape, I was clearly intoxicated however not enough to require medical attention and not once was I unconscious.
    - Don't trade at DLD. I brought stuff to trade at DLD and it was more of a hassle than anything else, if anything I should have just arrived on Thursday night, stayed in Munster, participate in the Friday night shares, and then just lightly pack for DLD.

I spent the majority of the time with the sharing, social interaction of it that truthfully I did not seek any whales or whale taps, I brought with me a decent amount of good beer which I hope everyone else enjoyed, and well I'm sorry that towards the end where I dropped a freshly opened huna I opened on the floor and it kept slipping from my hands due to my drunkenness and slippery nature of the day.

At the end of the day, I had a great time despite the weather. If I can get tickets for DLD 2017, I am flying down on Thursday and I am staying in Munster. How is the Quit Hitting Yourself ? That's the variant that I picked and haven't seen any taste reports on it.
