I'd take most dogs over most "craft beer enthusiasts"

i love dogs and i used to have dogs of my own but i agree.

take your dog for a hike, to a park, fishing/hunting, etc. i don't want strollers and/or crying babies at a bar and i don't want dogs at a bar. honestly, i see people bringing dogs into stores to shop and i just don't get it. yes it's better than leaving your dog in a hot car but why is your dog out and about with you anyway?

if the bar owner is fine with it then that's their business. as long as the dogs aren't unruly i could handle it. my uncle has a lab that just can't settle itself down around people/food. just going to his house for dinner/drinks/picnic is annoying. i love dogs but some dogs i could live without.

of course, poor behavior from a dog (at least in my opinion) says more about the owner than the dog. i could name over a dozen people that i wouldn't go out in public with.

This is the funniest post in this thread since the original flip flop posts.

I've got a dog AND a kid. I'll bring the dog to outdoor seating areas where allowed sometimes, especially if traveling and not wanting to leave the dog in the car. I'll bring the kid to brewpubs with kids menus. Wouldn't want to subject the dog or the kid to an indoor tasting room only or bar. I'm also sympathetic to people with allergies.

Good grief, some of you folks must enjoy going around popping little kids' balloons, too.

Pets, babies and badly behaved kids have no place at a bar/brewery.

Nope, don't pop 'em. I prefer to cut the string, and bask in the maelstrom of unjoyous noise as the little darling watches it float away to the heavens.

When you own a bar or brewery make that your policy. You have the choice of where to go or not to go. Vote with your dollars.

Smelly dogs, dog fur, drool, poo and pee, leashes, barking, running around, jumping on people and things, licking and nipping/biting, crying babies and their smelly diapers, and annoying loud and obnoxious kids. Sounds like fun! :astonished:

Zero! A lot of new parents are bad parents. They're oblivious to what their kids are doing, until a stranger says something. And even then, you're the bad guy for saying something to a kid or their parent(s).

Yep, and it's usually the most non-service animal lookin' sort of dogs too, like a runty chihuahua or perfumed & bowed Shi Tzu that the owner is carrying. Can't ask them... nope.

More and more these days I just prefer drinking at home with good company.

I will stop bringing my dog (who is well behaved and just minds his own business) when people stop bringing their children to breweries. Can't tell you how many times I have been to places in NC where I'm outside enjoying my day and some kid is running around unattended screaming and acting like a demon. Id much rather watch my step then have someone's hellion ruin my time.

Hey, I was just joking. I understand that you don't like kids or dogs in public. It's OK with me.

I was sitting at a picnic bench at a brewery near my house, minding my own business, and this big dog just came up and started licking my hand and leg. I did not call the dog over so i could pet it, nor did i gesture to the owner that i would like to pet his dog. That being said i was not very happy when this dog just came up to me and started slobbering on me. The owner mad no attempt to stop the dog from doing this and never apologized. As i got up to go wash my hands i looked at the owner hoping he would at least apologize but he just smiled and giggled a bit. It was frustrating.

That being said, i still think kids are worse for breweries/taprooms than dogs.

That is not acceptable. Dogs should always be on a leash when out around people in one of these settings.
