Not sure if you can get the Texas brews up there in MA but Freetail Brewing Co out of San Antonio makes a beer called Bat Outta Helles. I actually tried this beer for the first time tonight and it's decent. Certainly not as good as what the Germans are making but if you're just looking for Munich Helles in a can you might like it...

Silver City made a canned Helles lager, but it was a seasonal release (Seattle Beer Week 2015). Otherwise I'm not sure if I can help you.

The one from Copper Kettle ranges from pretty good to wonderful. I admittedly haven't had one in a while, though. One of their own bartenders once told me that they didn't always give it the time it probably needed. Been a few years since then, so I dunno if that's still the case. I have had it a couple times when it was phenomenal. Never had a "bad" one, but other times it wasn't up to their previous standard.

Tivoli's has changed a few different times, both officially and unofficially. I think it's pretty solid right now, but it can't touch the Andechs clone version when Prost first re-launched it. Still, it's good. I don't think they can it, though.

Grimm Brothers had their Briar Rose Helles in bottles a year ago, so maybe they'll can it this year? Like almost all of their beers, it's nice.

This makes me quirk my eyebrow, as I tend to register Czech pilsners as more bitter and aggressively hopped to the point that they can trip my "perfume" response, whereas German pilsners come across as maltier, more lightly-honeyed-biscuit or graham cracker with floral or grassy hop accents. I can force myself to drink Urquell, but can drink Jever all day. Weirdness.

I have not the faintest idea why that would happen, just found it interesting.

Von Trapp has recently started canning their Helles. Having never been to Munich, I can't speak as to the authenticity of this. It's my favorite of their beers by far.

I doubt that you can get it there, but surly makes a canned helles lager that is great

Odd response to me, since I love both German and Czech Pils, and German Pils to me is dry and moderate to high moderate mid palate bitterness and Czech Pils is moderate attenuated full maltiness with moderate late bitterness. Pilsner Urquell is one of my favorite beers and to me it's a malt showcase, with hops firmly in the supporting role, surprisingly so for 40 IBUs. Maybe you just dislike Saaz hops and like Hallertau? Or maybe it's late hop additions?

Entirely possible on the hop varietal, on the late hop addition, on gravity in respect to the final hop content, and likely a few other bits of process and ingredient as well.

I can say that dry-hopping, which is supposed to add little to no bitterness to a beer, invokes my Wall-o-Perfume response, where flavors vanish into a single note of harsh, harsh floral. I've also noticed that I can enjoy some stouts at 90+ IBU, and hate others like Storm King and Blot Out The Sun, so there's definitely factors at work beyond "hops are present".

It's also possible that the two times I've tried Urquell on tap, something was wrong with the keg or the lines. I've just noticed that a fair amount of pilsners billing themselves as Czech invoke the Wall, while those billed as German tend not to, so I assumed my Urquell experience was as intended.

I do not know how to pose this discussion topic delicately so I apologize in advance.

You seem to have a very unique palate. Have you ever met another beer drinker that has similar ‘responses’ like you do?

    Cheers!

I tend to like the bit more Hoppiness of a great Czech Pils. Problems here are twofold the local options aren't any better than average , and Urquell here tends to be old stock. The last had was lightly skunked. Not canned but Red Oak Humminbird is an always fresh local Helles, they won't sell it to you if you can't keep it cold and they check their vendors too. I'm dying for some Old Mecklenburg brews, but I'm not driving to Charlotte.

One who was pretty close to spot on the same reactions as I, though he developed gout and wound up giving up beer as a result. My girlfriend has a significant amount of overlap with my reactions re: hop aversity, with a handful of notable exceptions - Habanero Sculpin being one, where she gets pepper heat and little to no hops, while I get exactly the reverse.

Sorry for the late reply, but I've been busy.

I actually live in Spokane and picked up a (rather pricey) four pack of the Ninkasi at the local Total Wine, a national chain. Why you can't find anything similar on the West Side, I have no idea. Maybe I just got lucky? I wasn't looking for this beer, I just picked it up on a whim. Maybe if you request it?

To be honest, I haven't seen it since. Maybe it was a one-off?

Oh no biggie Lewarcher. Maybe now I have more incentive to make that trek over to Spokane and search it out while contemplating seeing Donald Trump.

I have been seeing a blue canned Lager by Silver City all over town. May have to try it as well as that HB canned Helles Lager found at Trader Joes in California.
