Just popping in here. I can't believe Chicago is upcharging BCBS to $30! BCBS'15 is like $11-$13 here in NY and sitting on the shelves unmoved for MONTHS. I even rolled the dice on some BCBS coffee last week (haven't opened the bottles).

I'm coming in for DLD at the end of the month and wouldn't mind bringing in some BCBS for IP trades. It might even save me some time from stopping by bottle shops since I'm just there for the weekend. PM me if you want to set something up.

I was going to get some popular Half Acre stuff like Double Daisy Cutter, 3F Dreadnought, Alpha King, Pear Bear, 18th St, Toppling Goliath or whatever is good that doesn't get NY distro (Pipeworks, some Half Acre, Lagunitas, to name some are in NY)

In fairness, this was a bar price, not shelf price. There's always more markup to drink something at a bar. However, there were plenty of stores around here with excessive pricing for BCS.

Like @mbockstruck30 said, bar prices are usually going to be a little shitty. This isn't a "Chicago" thing by any means; I bought BCBS at 2 different stores for ~$10 or 11 a bottle, and passed on a few places with similar pricing. You just have to know who you're dealing with. On the other hand, must be nice to live in a place where Bourbon County sits on shelves, and for a good price!

You won't find Toppling Goliath here, though; you'll have to head up to Wisconsin for that.

I can tell you for a fact that BCBS is still sitting on the shelf here in Chicago and the surrounding burbs as of this week and @ $9.99. Those still looking should checkout local Jewels.

Unless they just got a brand new shipment in, BCBS is not sitting on the shelves at Jewel.

Interesting. Clearly my area Jewels get cleared out quicker than surrounding ones (which figures).

Almost undoubtedly going to be a clusterfuck. I love Clybourn, but man are their BCBS events ridiculous nowadays.

I'm also not a fan of on-premise bottle purchases in this context.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid off. I'm still deliberating whether I want to go or not. Probably wouldn't get there until 6 and by that point I doubt I doubt any seats will be available.

Hey, don't take my word for it, I haven't been to one of these in a while. But yeah, I keep hoping the events will die down, but they don't seem to...:slight_frown:

I actually didn't think it was going to be that crazy, but who knows. I was thinking about going, but then realized I have all of those bottles at home if I want to drink them, and can drink them at a much lower price on my couch. Plus, I have so many beers I need to get rid of at home, that I don't need to go out and spend money on new beer.

The only bottle that REALLY intrigued me to get was the 2014 Coffee, but I think I still have 1 or 2 bottles. I will be interested to hear reports from anyone that goes.

    Prices:

    2015: regular $20; Regal $30

    2014: regular $12; Coffee & Barleywine both $14; and VR $45

Too rapey for me so just having a flight of whatever's on tap with dinner.

Wow how is 2015 regular more expensive than 2014?

Well, it is a bigger bottle. However it's not 75% bigger. My buddy went for a couple 2014 Coffee - that's what I would've gone for as well. He said people were gobbling up the Vanilla Rye, which is to be expected.
