Cool, I never participated in the other "Averagely Perfect" series, but this one sounds right up my alley. Great idea! I voted ipa but I'm good either way.

I've been hoping to see this for a while now, looking forward to it. I went with IPA, but I'd be happy with either.

I already started putting money away from each paycheck so I can afford 24 oz's of neat hops....

I see this thread having a lot of input and opinions. Vikeman, you are a better man than most for taking this on. Thank you in advance.

I voted PA, but why don't we compromise and make it 6% so it can be made between 5-7% with minor scaling?

    Also, this will be fun!

I voted pale ale. Some of the comments did not make sense until I remembered there is one forum member I ignore. Glad others are moving in that direction. My experience here has been much better since then.

I voted pale ale because it's that time of year.

Agreed. Would love to see this come in at the lower end of the IPA spectrum, 5.5 - 6 ish.

Since I am at the dry hopping stage of an IPA that I somewhat loosely based on things I read about this trend*, I'll watch from the sidelines**.

*Trend, not style. I'm an old man who accepts change with difficulty. I'm still reeling from black IPA*** and the 2015 guidelines.

**Having never actually tasted a commercial example of this trend, my input would be suspect.

***Averagely Perfect Black IPA? Take APAIPA recipe and vote on different types of roasted malts, huskless vs. husked, toss in the mash vs. steeping separately, hot steeping vs. cold steeping? Maybe next time we want to go after some low hanging fruit.****

    ****Averagely Perfect Fruit Beer, anyone?

Don't know who you're dissing, 'cause I only get one side of the conversation (I like the virtual "mute" button) . . .

Semi-related for the Mods: If someone I'm ignoring "likes" one of my post will I ever know about it?

Oh yeah, beer-related: voted for "pale ale" just to keep it in the race . . .

    Would be happy with either.
Would even be happy with NEDIPA.
    Thanks VikeMan!

Dude's worried about getting likes from someone he ignores. Classic! :grinning:

Don't worry, you haven't been getting any likes from me unless it was an accident and you won't be getting any likes from me in the future unless you say something worth liking which is very unlikely.

It's because of things like this that people get tired from. What's supposed to be a fun and informative website, has turned into an idiotic blog of people getting wind up their skirt and getting severely butt hurt.

You can join the Ignore Brew Betty Bandwagon (IBBB), if you like. Sadly, I don't have a problem with you. I'm very far from being butt hurt. Very few people here are more informative than me. That's a fact. I've informed you many times. If my posts directed towards others interfere with your "fun" aspect, someone else might be able to inform you.

I personally, have nothing against you either. I was simply voicing my opinion for myself and for others that feel the same. I'm here to learn and enjoy the forums, and i do welcome constructive criticism and debates. Oh, and you have informed me many times, always accepted.

It's cool, dawg. Brew_Betty doesn't care who ignores. It turns out, most of the members of the IBBB have been on passive ignore without me dramatically announcing it in an epic hissy fit like Vikeman did. I find it really easy to gloss over posts without using the ignore button.

I firmly believe my criticism was constructive. It wasn't intended to cause a Vikeman hissy fit. It's sad the self appointed pollster didn't recognize it as constructive input. The most important concept of "crowd sourced beer" was bypassed. The type of beer was decided without a poll. That was my point.
