I absolutely enjoyed CoC last year! Just commenting on this year and the majority of years.

This is a really good post. I agree pretty much across the board with the assessment. My experience was a bit different since I entered at the south gate as was group B. We waited 45 minutes or so for the line to start moving, but once they started it was pretty much as fast as you could walk.

The band and North tent comments are spot on. Other than walking in, I never really ventured to the south end....because of the music. When I walked out with my allotment, I heard this super heavy music and drums (that part was OK), but the vocals was some guy screaming "Die, Die, Die" over and over. It was such a cliche I literally laughed out loud....then walked in the opposite direction. The north tent, mid afternoon, was a classic rock tour de force. We were jamming, sharing and having a blast.

I took my bottles to the car right after I got 'em so that I didn't have to worry, but we had our backpacks in a pile in the center of our circle and we really had to keep an eye on them. Multiple people appeared to be trying to distract us at times, but we were not wasted and were really vigilant.

Symphonic Metal for DLD 2017. Because we need more bands singing about elves and hobbits.

It would be like Ronnie James Dio(RIP) fronting a death metal band. I would be all over that!

It's what Blind Guardian, Epica, Nightwish, Demons and Wizards, etc., already do... fairly active subgenre

Probably lots of them inspired by his lyrics in some way.

I'd settle for more bands like Corrosion of Conformity from last year. Not big into the scream metal stuff, but I can totally get down with some southern rock metal stuff like that.

Shows you what I know. I still can't go beyond the 80's thrash period.

I really liked the addition of Big Freedia last year. I'm not asking for twerk music every year, but something besides metal in another tent is a nice addition (a DJ is cool too, but only gets you so far).

It could just be the PC I'm using (My Surface Pro 4 is really weird with Chrome), but I don't see them available for sale currently. My guess is that if that's the case, it's because they're being shipped over to FFF for sale on their site (with screenprinting on them).

The whole fest is "depressing". All of the tents were washed out and muddy. Seriously, what more did you want? Pretty sure they thanked you by getting you into a fest that tickets are relatively hard to grab.

High quality post. When they announced the bands, I searched for the headliner on the tube of you and actually really liked the first 20 seconds of guitars and drums. Then the screaming started.

The screaming was a well thought out plan to cope with the rampant beer theft by drowning out the cries of those who had variants stolen.

With everyone complaining about stolen bottles, I have to ask... Why are people just leaving their bottles unattended or unwatched in the company of 8,000+ drunk people?

Bad things are bound to happen. There's been a history of this, it's nothing new, people know what to expect. Drunk people just naturally tend towards kleptomania.

I get my bottles, they go in my backpack, they don't leave my body. If I need a beer out of my backpack to share, one of my friends gets it for me, or I set the pack down, retrieve the bottle, put the pack back on.

If you get too drunk that you forget your beers, it's your own damned fault. This is a crime of opportunity. Just stop giving the opportunity, and keep track of your own stuff. Honestly, if you had your bottles stolen, in 99.9% of the time, you have no one to blame but yourself.
