I envision the less fanatical beer drinker hearing about this place and thinking," wow, I get to pour my own beer. That's cool." Or something along those lines.

Agreed. It seems like it will be a stop for all those weekend suburbanites on their way to and from Dangerous Man and the like.

Yeah, I can't wait to drive up to the Big City to pour my own beer. Plus pay more than I would out in the sticks? I wonder if they will have that new wireless internet too! Using a glass will be a thrill too. I know in the town I live in, we pass around a bowl that someone else fills.

No idea how you feel suburbanites will go there over the regular bike-riding city folk...

FWIW I'm a full time suburbanite. Not sure of who people are that live in the suburbs only on weekends. :grinning:

My apologies if I offended you. My comment came out a lot more arrogant sounding than I intended it to be. What I meant is the the whole concept of pouring your own beer is the kind of gimmick that is more likely to appeal to people whole live in the land of chain restaurants.

Has anyone suggested having people grill their own steaks here too? May help with the bottom line if you can cut out the service section of an establishment.

I haven't been here yet, but I slightly liked the idea. (Only slightly.) It's kind of like the thrill of owning your own bar (or at least a kegerator) without the responsibility.

That said it seems like a very brief thrill.

Am I obligated to tip myself after pouring my own beer?

I have a keezer so I can fill the empty void in my life of pouring my own beer when it starts to get empty and voidy.

The "Fort" bar in Fort Ripley MN does this every Friday night, makes for a good time:slight_smile: But not allowed behind the bar for your "own" pour, bummer:slight_frown:

Community Keg House just announced they are closing. That did not last long.

They are hoping someone will buy the business and continue with the same business model.

Well this is odd timing. I went to the Draft Horse for lunch today and was exploring the neighborhood afterwards. I came across this place and said, "huh, so that's where that place is." I was with my mom who asked what it was and I explained the concept. She said..."Why would I want to pour my own beer? They'll probably be out of business soon." Several hours later they announce it!?? Geez...My mom's got some timing.

That business model is very progressive, but even in a proud, progressive city like Minneapolis it might be too far ahead of its time.

I disagree that it's a progressive business model. I think it's a misguided business model. When people go out to an eating or drinking establishment they want to be served. If they wanted to serve themselves they would have ate or drank at home. Community Keg House's quick closer goes a long way in proving my position.

With that said, I still hope that those in charge of this beer endeavor land on their feet, and learn from their experience.

Never made it down here though I knew of it. Guess the concept didn't seem too appealing to me or many other people by the looks of it.
