Notable Releases - DC/NOVA/MD

I've seen Bomb! at Canton Crossing in Baltimore and Funky Gold Mosaic at both Canton Crossing and Lighthouse Liquors over the past two months.

 

Cascade Cranberry and Blackberry at FL Wegmans. 25$ a pop (cheapest I've seen).

Not sure if it's worth it, but I am sure alot of us might be interested.

 

Are there still any places that hold some KBS/BCBS/Parabola/Sucaba neer VA-DC-Philly?

 

Read through the last 2-3 pages of this thread, there have been mentions of some places with KBS and BCBS. If it's not ridiculously overpriced, you probably are going to have a had time finding any of those beers in this area.

 

Wine Spectator - KBS (as of yesterday)
Rodmans - BCBS (as of last week, I would call to confirm)

 

I was a little bit concerned about the date, but I don't really care for the price so I should find some overpriced shop, thanks!

You are probably just better off calling yourself, when you are here. These places aren't going to ship the beer to Korea and no guarantees what will be available whenever you are in town (assuming that's your plan).

Yeah I'm not sure my calling and telling you they have 5 bottles (arbitrary number) will help you out. There's no telling if they last an hour, a day, or a week.

 

My friend is going to Haymarket,VA ~ Philly this sunday and he said he can pick up some beers for me, so yeah. That doesn't seem like a "such a deal" but it will do to me. Thanks.

 

TW Alexandria has DFH 120, LCCB Fearnought, FW Bretta Rose, Rapadou Porter, Terrapin Anniversary, HW BB Cru, Full steam Coffee is for Closers, and Cackalcky. They also had a couple MBC beers.

 

Damn, I should just seek for some nice locals.

You should be able to find an abundance of fantastic beer available, local and non-local alike, even if you can't find KBS/BCBS/Parabola/Sucaba, between Philly and NoVA. Just check this forum for the beer that people are falling all over themselves to get for the particular week you are here.

 

These descriptions of the Apricot are apt:

What a sour-ass'd wild ale. Extremely tart...like sour patch kid salt ripping the film off you tongue tart. If that's your thing this is a must have. Awesome beer. 2014 project. Cheers!

... This is one brow-beating sour ... It's bracingly sour, in every way, I get sour wine, sour apricots, sour oak, and sour lemon, tons of lactic acid, some white wine vinegar, etc. It tastes good, but it's definitely not subtle, or elegant. It's a big brash bruiser of a sour.
... It's a slow sipper due to the intense sourness.
This is a very bold sour, but I do tend to prefer the more nuanced sours.

So if you want a really sour sour, I'd recommend Apricot.

 

Yea, I drank the 2015 Apricot this weekend. I loved it, but it is sour as fuck. Almost as sour as I am after that Caps playoff loss.

Having said that, I will not be buying anymore of their bottles at the current price point. In this area, these beers are distributed through a boutique wine wholesaler. They are only showing up in WF's and small bottle shops that tend to have higher markups. I expect as they start showing up in grocery stores and Total Wine, prices should start to come down a bit. These beers are $$ everywhere, but they are already showing up in some Wegmans' - $24 for Blackberry.

 

Stone Enjoy By Tangerine around DC now. Also keep your eyes peeled for Firestone Walker Bretta Rose. I had no idea this thing went into distro!

Apparently it's hit a couple shops in VA, any sightings in DC yet?

 

Pretty sure I saw this at WF P St. on Monday, but I don't care much for Stone so it could have been one of their others.
