I think it is because most of the breweries that have a Master Beer Listing have brewing operations in multiple states. For simplicity, I'm guessing these are not included in the count because otherwise they would have to make a choice on which (or all) states to count...

That makes sense, but I would just include them in the state the original brewering operations were or where the company is based. Kona should count for Hawaii even if they contract it out because that's where the company is centered for example.

I can see it from that perspective but my guess is the counting system pre-dates the Master Beer Listings from a code perspective and there are too many possible permutations to make it worthwhile to invest in... Also, I can imagine that some breweries that started in one state and are still headquartered there but have no brewing operations there anymore.

I could see the coding being tough, but if it won't count for for a state on the state count I would like to see it removed from the top beers for the state. That way I can tell which beers count.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there as I use the Top Beers in STATE for guidance on what to look for when I'm visiting a state...

Besides, there are really not that many breweries that are Master Beer Listings - the big ones that catch most people up are Dogfish Head and Cigar City (because there are not that many other breweries from those states that see a lot of distro to other states).

Any thoughts on Uinta or Surly not being counted as UT or MN? Just wondering if there is a glitch. Thanks!

I just want a way to track which beers count, I'm trying to get all 50 stantes and am only at 19. There are quite a few that don't count.

I'm pretty sure those two are counted. The count only updates one time per day when you are logged in.

I highly recommend just starting a Google Sheet (spreadsheet) and tracking it that way - that is how I have been doing it for the last few years to get to 49/51. It is not the ideal solution but until the enhanced stats are available to show this information, it is the best solution that I am aware of...

Thanks, that might be my best option.

The last three unique states I've ticked are SC, MS, and LA. My state count increased by only two. Do any of these have master listings?

    Lazy Magnolia (MS)
    Thomas Creek (SC)
    Abita (LA)

    Thanks for your help!

I feel your pain - I am off by one state according to my own tracking and cannot figure out which state BA is not picking up and it is really bugging me. Good luck!

Does the master listings also affect countries count?

Possibly but I have not noticed it... What brewery are you thinking about that might make a difference in countries since almost all of the Master Beer Listings are US companies so would only effect one country.

Nope but maybe they one missed the job that does the update, check back after another hour or two (otherwise you already had SC, LA, or MS).

Ok, Heineken and xingu didn't count in the countries count. Are they master listings?

They should count in the countries count - I think that it only gets updated once per day though.
