They had the least of the VR, lots of the others. Wasn't of fan of Regal Rye when sampled small pour at Fobab. Had one tonight, sipped it to hope the profile improved as it warmed, and concluded it has to be the worst variant they have made...

All the aftermarket buyers would shit their pants if they knew that they could get an on-premise VR for under $50. Shit, if I would have known sooner I might have headed up to get my first sip of that!

$45 for a VR at a bar is a fantastic deal. The 60 VRs they had were gone pretty quick. They still had 2014 coffee available an hour and a half later. I'd imagine based on the turnout that there will still be some of these bottles available tomorrow.

Just FYI, I stopped by Clybourn tonight and they still had everything except VR. I enjoyed yet another bottle of Coffee. I was told they were down to less than 5 bottles of Regal, otherwise there seems to be plenty of the other stuff. 2014 Coffee is drinking very well!

I'm not the biggest fan of VR, but $45 for a bomber isn't terrible on-premise 1) given the original price + on-premise markup and 2) given the relative rarity of the beer now. Glad to hear Clybourn's event was a success for people.

In today's edition of look at these ridiculous prices, we've got Prestige Liquors under the Diversey EL stop. $30/per for '15 Barleywine and $40/per for '15 coffee.

Roger that. I stopped going there awhile back as they seem to enjoy price gouging way too much for my liking.

That was my go-to place for a while until they started being super shady about what they have or didn't have, and then started charging obscene prices shortly thereafter. The older guy who works there got really combative toward the end of my visits, and the last time I went in there was when I confronted him on the price of a 4-pack of KBS that was prominently displayed for $50 in March 2013. (While not stupid obscene I suppose by today's ludicrous standards, back then that was insane).

Oh, he must have come down on price this year...was only selling KBS for $39.99! Yeah, they like to gouge.

I'm not shocked at all. I think I can generally tell within 5 seconds of walking into some of those stores whether they will be price gougers - you just get a certain vibe. Sometimes I can figure it out without ever having to set foot in the store. All the more reason to appreciate "good" individual stores such as Beer Temple, West Lakeview Liquors and Capone's.

Maybe he forgot to lower his prices since February when that $40 for a coffee would include a $40 check and oversized BCBS novelty t-shirt.

Swung by the Fulton tap room yesterday after seeing they'd have some BCS on tap and have a few older variants in the cooler. After reading about Clyblurn's prices earlier in the thread, I was no expecting the insane price gouging that would be in store.

    Vanilla, Prop 13 and 14, Backyard, King Henry.....all $150 a bottle.

$8 6 ounce pours of Regal and Coffee.

I paid more than I cared to for a few beers but good god. Ridiculous prices. And people more than willing to throw down their cards and buy multiple bottles.

I get the demand is there for these beers, but how they can charge reasonable prices a week prior and then up it that much is beyond me.

Many of the prices were ridiculous, but the $150 bottles were just absurd. The only thing that sold out in the couple of hours I was there was the OG Vanilla.

Worst part was that the guy that did the pricing told our group that he used secondary market and trade prices to get an idea of what to charge. What in the actual fuck GI

We said the exact same thing. Asked him how Clybourn charged less than half the price for VR than Fulton is, when they're all owned by the same company now. He laughed and said they aren't technically sold yet so they can do what they want.

That's just a huge money grab with those insane prices. Really disliking more and more what I'm seeing from GI as a whole.

Looks like we (the craft beer community as a whole) have made our collective bed (after taking a massive dump under the sheets first). Now we lie in it. Welcome to craft beer in 2016, it only goes downhill from here.

They have to make up for the lost 400% margins on all the refunds this year somehow.

The balls on that guy! I don't know if I should be disgusted or in awe of someone who lacks so much empathy.
