Answered my own question. At the bar now, and both Miracle Toast and Coffee Miracle Toast are on.

How are they? I read some people find it thin.

More bitter and dry than thin. A pretty bad beer

This helps take the sting out of missing the 4 bottles due to the line jumping that occurred between 10 and 11. I Don't think I'll ever go to one of their unticketed releases again.

I think it is rather dumb that they have a good ticketed system working in Marengo, that they don't use at the brew pub. If they want people to go to the brew pub since business isn't that great, you could still do a ticket release and get that business! It makes zero sense.

In regards to the beer, I am really sorry to hear that it isn't that great. Had higher hopes since the description sounded very promising.

Also, is there a reason they didn't can? I know they have to use a contracted canning company but seems a bit weird not to can it. Personally I am digging breweries canning things more and more due to the practicality of it. Hope to see some cool releases in the next month or so! Cheers.

Don't feel like reading this whole thread so forgive any redundancy. Is the Marengo location not open every Sunday from 12-5:00 anymore? Skipped the release the AM after seeing the line around 2 blocks at 10:45. En route back to Cleveland was hoping to grab some growlers and have a few on tap. To my surprise, the place was closed, no one there. Anyone know what the deal is with Sundays there now?

They are only open on Sundays when there is a release. Easiest way to keep track of that is on their Facebook page. No release, not open.

Why not do tickets for the brewpub? Because a line down the street for hours is a good advertisement for your business.

Miracle Toast is good, albeit thin. I would like to see some thicker stouts from HH.

Just curious, what would make it thicker in your opinion? I never understood when people said stouts were too thin compared to how they want it. I know the go to is BCBS in terms of a thick beer, but that is a mammoth beer period.

There are a few ways... During the brewing process, by mashing at a higher temp (water/grain temperature when converting sugars). The higher the temperature (typically within a 148-158F range), the more residual sugars after fermentation and typically, you will get a thicker mouthfeel. The "problem" with mashing higher is the increase in grain for the target ABV (since more sugars remain, you ferment out less resulting in lower alcohol).

Or, by the use of adjuncts such as oatmeal, flaked rye, lactose, etc... These additions will also lead to a richer mouthfeel. Depending on what is used, these can also add to the mouthfeel without adding that sweetness.

There are also malts (Carapils) that will add body without much flavor impact at all.

A few ways to do it though. I like a nice medium to rich bodied stout, thin ones also feel "off" to me.

Odd, I don't even think BCBS is a thick beer...

Facebook event for a Marengo release this Sunday has been posted. Rose Gose AND Bulgin' Musk (Belgian IPA). With tickets, you can get 3 4pks of each beer.

Thanks! Sometimes in brewing, terms can be a little tricky to differentiate. I tend to think of the beer being very heavy and sticky to a point. Good to know!

The allotment for the Wet When Slippery release has dropped to 2pp. I'm assuming this is due to complaints about the MT release from people who didn't get in line early enough (or were cut in line). Either way, this means 240 allotments are now available.

FWIW we (Flytown and HH) mashed at 158 (about as high as you can go) and used a large amount of oats. I was hoping for something a little chewier but we got what we got. I have a few ideas as how to thicken things up but I'll keep those under my hat.
