Yeah, if you're staying in Beaverton or something, it's worth going to John's. Uptown Market is alright as well. The Growlerie usually has good taps and a small bottle selection where de Garde stuff has sat longer than in other spots. Sometimes you'll find stuff out there that's sold out in the city but otherwise it's not worth making the trip.

The ones mentioned above are good choices. Also, consider driving to ABV in Hillsboro. Fairly large bottle selection, and tap list.

Yep. Mentioned that one. And if the asker wanted to know about good beer bars, I would've mentioned IBU Public House on Beaverton Hillsdale Highway, which is owned by the same folks as ABV.

If someone is staying in Portland, there are no Must See places in the Beaverton/Hillsdale area. If someone is staying in Beaverton, on the other hand, it isn't that difficult to find good beer. (Even if most of the places that come to mind are in Hillsboro instead of Beaverton.)

Oops. Somehow glanced over your response. Definitely agree with your assessment of the burbs beer scene.

(At the risk of taking this further off-topic: Yeah, it will be a while before there's a dedicated "Visiting Tigard/Beaverton/Hillsboro" thread , but we are getting more options out here. I've got my eye on a new place called Craft Pour House on Walker near 158th. It should be opening at the end of the month.)

Maybe all y'all who live/work in the various burbs could put together a list, and the link added to the links at the top of these quarterly threads? Might get some use.

That's really close to where I live. Will definitely check it out once it's open.

Do you really think that would be useful? Someone would have to spend a month in Portland to exhaust those options and make a trip to Beaverton worthwhile.

It couldn't hurt. If people are here visiting relatives who live in the burbs they may not have time to make the 30-40 minute trip into Portland but still might appreciate tips for nearby places. Hell, I often stop at ABV on the way home from the coast if traffic is shitty, and it would be nice to know some alternatives.

Yeah, I don't think it's worth its own thread, but a link in the PDX thread, sure. Like Maltmaster said, folks visiting family, folks driving to/from the coast who don't want to pull the Winnebago into a city, and folks who have business at a certain large sneaker company, one of the many knife companies, or any of the other businesses in the area, who might not get downtown, but still want a lovely beverage, would find it helpful. Shrug. It was just a thought. I have so few thoughts, I like to share them before they die of loneliness inside my head.

Yeah, a section for the suburbs could include Tualatin/Sherwood, Gresham, Oregon City, etc. since there's a few places worth visiting in all of those cities if you happen to be staying there already.

Why are all these events happening on the same day :slight_frown:

There's a reason people keep saying "Every day is a beer event in Portland."

Yes. They had free samples the day it was released. I thought it was way too wine-y. It basically tasted like a carbonated Pinot Noir. Didn't much care for it.

Visited a few places in and around Portland yesterday, May 2016. John's Market was pretty cool, as were the employees. Yea, it's a bit of a cluster muck in there, but still a must visit. Of course visit Belmont and many others already mentioned.

I find most of the Whole Foods in Portland to carry some really good stuff and knowledgeable staff. Also check out a few Fred Meyer grocery stores in Portland. Especially across the river in the Hollywood & I think Hawthorne neighborhoods. Fantastic selections!

Pearl Specialty Market & Spirits simply rubs me the wrong way sometimes. Uninspired, pretentious employees that rarely have answers in regards to beers. Just my opinion, but this has occurred on three separate occasions. If they put as much effort into familiarizing themselves with the beer industry as they do with their wine and shoplifting procedures, better results might occur.

I really need to check out whats going on in Hillsboro. City continues to grow along with plenty of expendable income & beer fans. People may turn their noses up at Hillsboro as nothing more than a glorified suburb, but I find it a pleasant place outside the city of Portland.

Definitely interested in opinions on good places to visit (bottle shops, markets, grocers, etc) in Vancouver WA, as many of us past through on way back to Seattle.
