With growlers capped at 3pp and most cans running out by Friday night, Saturday probably isn't the best day to plan a trip up to Tree House (unless the main goal is to pick up other NE beers while you're here).

Agreed. My best experience has been getting there before they open on Friday... good chance for at least 2, if not 3 varieties of cans available, even though the limits for the Wednesday cans probably are lowered.

Heh. I know, Saturdays are a total crapshoot up there, but I've done pretty well from time to time. Just depends.

Mostly just can't stomach the idea of waiting in line at other half for 4 hours, if not more. The two new beers sound great, and ACE I really liked. I know they improved the line a little bit, but is it enough?

It would be a lot more tolerable if Other Half opened at Noon or 1PM instead of 10AM. People wouldn't be lining up at 6AM if this were the case (or at least less people would be.) That Finback release yesterday was a total breeze with the 1PM opening.

But that would just ruin your Saturday afternoon instead of your Saturday morning.

I'd think a later opening would make the lines substantially worse. It would open the window for more out of towners to commute to the brewery.

I got to Finback an hour before opening and the line was about 30 deep. Seems like most of the people up front had been drinking for a couple hours already judging from the check ins. I think this was mostly to find parking. Im with everyone else that a later opening would probably make the line worse.

The extra cash only line and separate area for people to pack up their beer have been the two best things OH has done to make their releases better. AM/PM wouldn't make a difference, I like Finback's beers a lot but Oscillation doesn't have the appeal of the OH hops and crowds are going to keep getting worse before they get better as their popularity increases.

Just know that we were the cools kids that knew about it before anyone else.

It should. Oscillation 004 is fantastic and BQE is better than any stout offering I've had from OH (though I haven't opened my Short Dark & Extra Handsome just yet).

BQE is by far the best stout offering in the city, though I'd love to try a barrel aged Heavy Boots of Lead.

Outside of New York, how about that? I think their beers are great but I have people from all over the country asking me for OH beers and not a single one looking for Finback.

Double Negative and BA Double Negative are fantastic - however not considering Grimm a NYC brewery at this time given their gypsy status. Same for Evil Twin - IBB/EMJ/etc are great adjunct stouts (Pappy's IBB being among the best I've ever had) but it's unfair to compare them to breweries that are actually making their stuff in NYC.

Sorry I meant the BA BQE, and Double Neg totally slipped my mind. I think id still prefer BA BQE though (dont shoot me).

True, a little bit farther than "swing by" perhaps, but if you're already driving 3 hours one-way to get beer I don't think another 1.5 hours is a huge deal. You're spending your day already, anyway. On second thought, though, I think I'd rather swing by Fort Point and get a lobster roll at Row 34 while I'm at it.

No matter what though, you're coming out with a better haul than you get at OH between those two breweries.

I'm kind of hoping when there's a break in collab releases that the line situation will die down a bit. I just want a single hop release. Maybe Galaxy?

As much as I think the collabs are always great beers, I don't think they're worth the crazy lines. I'd much rather stock up on some of their regular cannings.

Longing for another Green Diamonds/Nelson release.

They haven't canned Nelson in a really long time, it's been at least 9 months, that would be nice.
