22OCT15 opened the other night. It was smooth and perfect. Took some self control not to open another immediately after.

If they hope to sell much BCBS and variants in Nov/Dec, they'll need to publicly fess up and indicate that they've remedied the problem(s). I bet they won't get specific, but they'll need to humbly admit a problem, and convincingly state that it is fixed. In the mean time, if they don't do something for buyers of infected BCBS while admitting there is a problem, this will impact sales. Maybe we should come up with a shirt that says something like "I got stuck with infected BCBS, and I didn't even get a shirt!!!!".

Their BCBS sales this year, in particular the variants, will not be impacted by this. If it happens again this year or in the next couple years, then I think you'll start to see something. In Chicago, there is no less demand than ever for the stuff....see the thread in the GL forum about people forking over $100-$150 for bottles of Vanilla Rye, Prop, etc. at the taproom.

Anyone that thinks they will have trouble selling should come to Chicago for Black Friday and the week or so after -- it'll be the same craziness as usual. I'm looking forward to it.

Agree they will still sell their stock easily, thing is they have acted like complete shitstains about it and their reputations as well as integrity has been brought into question. But hey, as you say, they don't give a fuck as they know there are more mugs out there willing to buy their shit.

There are definitely different takes on how they've acted. Some may say they should be applauded because they implemented a refund like no other brewery ever has. Some may say they are asses for not recognizing more problems. I fall in the middle, and I think their history of making good beer is what will have me back at it again.

I never said they don't give f***, though. Everyone gives a f***...it's all a matter of what they give f*** about and whether you/I/we agree with that.

Very true, you never said that, i took a liberty with your post there. There are many things to debate on how they responded, all i'd say is for a beer that is suitable for aging 5 years, 3 months is not a substantial amount of time for people to receive or claim refunds. I just get the impression they know people will be queuing up again next year regardless and so can afford to be dismissive about criticism. Also pretty baffling how such a well respected brewery missed this "infection" in the first place.Upto this i was a huge G.I fan.....not so much now, even despite the great beer they make (made).

Yeah, the 3 month window for refunds was one of their decisions I definitely disagreed with. I'd be intrigued to know some of the decision-making done by GI and why they decided certain things, but we will obviously never know that. I like to think they ran through different scenarios and made the appropriate long-term decision for themselves - if that's the case, I can't blame them too much, as that's basically what we do at my job as well. I'm sure I'd feel differently if I had some bottles that were bad and didn't get a refund for them, though.

It does sound as though some people are still being told the GI is in the review process for the regular, despite someone else being told they are done with it and not doing refunds. I still don't expect refunds, though.

FWIW every single beer that's ever made it to bottling and was released was done so because it did not show signs of infection/contamination upon release.

and three months is a HUGE window in my opinion. Refunds of that magnitude are unprecedented and they did the right thing. If you didn't hear about it in a 90 day period then I don't know what to tell you.

Drinking a 11NOV15 right now and the first whiff I took had a strange wine-like fume that led me to believe what I was about to taste might be tart. Took a sip and it was delicious. Took another whiff and the tart fume was gone and replaced with wonderful bourbon oakiness. Not infected.

Has anyone had a BW or Coffee lately that was not bad? I still have mine, just curious.

I bet we see a return to 12 oz bottles next year, which will be great, because the stupid bottle change was the reason I boycotted in the first place.

Yep, will be interesting to see what type of bottle (and even if 16.9 oz, how it might differ) they use this coming year because inability to effectively sanitize the new goofy bottles is a possible theory as to the target character drift. If there is any change from the first year of the new format then I think this would speak volumes as to the possible cause from GI's perspective.

Opened a bottle last night. Bottling date was 10-21-15 purchased in central Michigan and kept at about 60-65 degrees since purchased. It tasted absolutely phenomenal and I couldn't really detect any off flavors. I probably won't sit on the rest of the ones I have for as long as I had planned though. Good luck to everyone else!

Had a 2014 tonight. Genuinely believe that my 2015's are tasting better.

The test bottle has been sitting at a steady 89-91*F since last Thursday. Going to wait until 5/27 to do the tasting, but have 4 other locals committed to joining the tasting and sharing their opinion of the two.
