I'm a Mid-Atlantic type contemplating a trip to Cleveland towards the end of July, beginning of August as a friend has a competition there. The hotel is probably downtown. What are the must dos, aside from the R&R HoF and the sporting events? Best brewpub for food and best for beer selection? Thanks!

Jackie O's is just a short drive away!

I had my first Jackie O's during Dark Lord Day's many bottle shares. It was pretty good stuff!

Hit the West Side Market, for sure. Art Museum is world class, and free.

There is a great food scene here as well, but yelp or urban spoon would probably serve you better for that info.

Lizardville is a great beer bar/store and has pretty good food. There is one in Bedford Heights and Lakewood, but check their hours before you stop by. Rozi's in Lakewood is a great bottle shop I'd recommend. Buckeye Beer Engine is a nearby beer bar with a great taplist and food.

Also Fat heads is a must. I'd recommend their brewery taphouse in Middleburg Heights unless you want an extensive food menu, then go to the North Olmstead brewpub.

If you'll be on the east side of Cleveland, Wine Spot on Lee Rd is having a Jackie O's event on June 9th. They also have a great bottle selection.

Brew Kettle is a solid place. Their White Rajah is a must for any Ipa fan. Barrio tacos has awesome food and a great beer selection.

Multitude of good restaurants / patio in Tremont by the Christmas Story house. A day on W. 25th hitting West Side Market and all the breweries there can't go wrong. And while a bit cliche for those of us here in town, if you've never been out on the water doing a Nautica Queen boat trip isnt the worst idea to get out on the Lake.

R&R HOF is meh. If you're dead set on it, go. But if it doesn't work out and you can't make it, you'll be alright.

The wife wants to visit R&R HoF, I'm going for Cedar Point, it's been 20 years since I've been there. Will definately hit up the Jackie O's event @ wine spot.

I'm a bit of a Great Lakes Brewing homer, but I have to recommend at least stopping by the brewpub if you get a chance. There are also a few other great bars within walking distance nearby worth checking out.
