The four variants will be on when Out of the Park opens at 4pm on Thursday (5/19). Glassware available for 200 people, but the MP glassware goes to the first 70 people who buy tix over the phone or in person.

I completely missed the fact that OotP is requiring $50 tickets for the event, and limiting glassware to the first 70 people. That's pretty disappointing, and I wish the other option wasn't Provisions.

Totally understandable. Word on the street is that these 1/6 bbbl Kegs are upwards of $325...so possibly the blame should be spread around a wee bit.

I guess $50 may not be too bad if that's 4 pours and glassware.

It always seems like the have a good selection when I look at their IG, but whenever I go there I leave without buying anything. Of course I'm loathe to give WF a penny of my money but for the right beer I would. But that beer is never there, it seems.

Marc is the man. Wish he was back at WF Newport. Not only has the bottle beer gone down, but the Back Bay Tavern selection has also been compromised. He did the buying for both. They still have a decent selection and it is my walking (stumble) distance regular hangout so can't complain too much.

Agree completely. Total Wine is starting to hoard limited releases behind the counters now too. Should people have to ask every time if they have Pliny or *insert limited release whatever*? And afterwards they always look at me like they're doing me a favor or something.

it's a really tough one to be honest. I hate it like crazy being on the wrong side of it, but it was great when briefly I was on the right side of it (knowing the beer guy). Regardless, eventually I felt I was above the shame, so then I had to accept I couldn't have anymore surprise Pliny, etc. But if they didn't hide it out, they'd still have issues of people taking more than their fair share, hiding bottles behind shelves for their friends, etc etc etc.

My local Totes Wine keeps PtE behind the counter but has a prominent sign near the register saying it's available and limit 1 per. Works fine for me.

The TW Brea is starting to keep high-profile, annual-release beers like Parabola behind the counter. But for ones like PtE that show up periodically, they just keep in the walk-in fridge. I believe its because they try to limit the constant questions, nagging, and harassment.

So lessons learned... keep bugging and harassing them for ALL beers till they can't take it anymore.

Speaking of Whole Foods, the Brea store has Leche Borracho. 1 per @ $20. You gotta ask for it at the cheese counter :grimacing:

yeeeah, just caught up with how OoTPP is doing Monsters Park release....

Eh, that just seems sort of... wrong to me. You sell tickets for 200, but you can only guarantee the glass, which this events were promoted on Modern Times' facebook page as pimping.

I mean, the $50 alone doesn't seem like the way MT would really plan for these events to be. but hey, who knows. All I know is that if i'm paying a beer festival price, I should be getting more for my money's worth.

I wonder how places that seem to have a somewhat dubious reputation end up scoring cool events like this.

I picked up a Leche Borracho at WF Jamboree in Tustin yesterday. Not sure if they have any left. Their beer buyer is now on instagram bennythebeerbuyer. I haven't ever seen them hide anything behind the cheese counter. Most of the time they keep stuff behind the bar if it's a special release and I've never had an issue just asking for one.
