It is even more impressive that Clybourn has to go through a distributor for those bottles and they still sold them for less...

Hopefully there's a second round. I'm seeing more and more Prop infection issues. What's the chance this will tamper the lines on Black Friday :grinning:?

Yeah, exactly. I have a feeling a lot of the haters out there will end up near some of us in line that day. I'm not calling anyone out in this thread in particular - just speaking to the general amount of haters that have come up among the various threads. And, I'm not saying GI is guilt-free in all this, but this is some of my favorite beer (if not my favorite), and I am looking forward to gearing up for it again.

I know GI probably won't let something like those off-tasting issues happen for the second year in a row with Bourbon County line, and even despite all the disgruntled people I have a feeling that the lines will be even bigger in 2016... in Chicago at least. The craft beer craze is growing and these BC issues will barely put a dent in that craze.

Yeah the key is that it can't happen twice. If 16's became infected, there would be an impact the following year. I think that's fair as well. I would expect people will open their variant bottles sooner in 16 though

If they were smart, they would take away the "develops for 5 years" in the bottle language and replace it with a 3 month freshness date. That would cover them for the infections if they develop after 3 months and possibly dissuade people from hoarding.

That's what all of the astute brewing companies are doing these days!

Disregarding the way the guy priced the bottles, he was the most open I've heard from any GI employee about the infection issue. He acknowledged the issue in both Prop and regular BCBS, and said that some kind of response and maybe compensation I'd forthcoming. He said that they've been going back through every step of everything to narrow it down but it is obviously incredibly difficult, if not impossible. Interestingly he says they dont think it is likely the bottling line. It was just refreshing to hear anything besides flat out denial.

I know somebody that works at the barrel house and the newest line of thinking is that the problem involved adding water to try to extract the devil's cut. Who knows, if that's the case, then why no issues with keg BCBS and variants?

Was at GI Clybourne yesterday and they had a few BC available. I don't think they advertised it or let it be know either (and it wasn't shown on any chalkboard in the place). I only found out because my girlfriend and I swung bye for a bite and a beer, and saw a couple behind us getting poured a 12oz bottle of BCBS. They had BCBS '14 (bottle), BCBBW '14 (bottle) and BCBS '15 (bottle and draft).

I ended up getting a BCBS '14 bottle. It was $12.

I believe those are all leftovers from the past two weekends when they had a ton of bottles for sale (two weekends ago) and when that has '13-'15 regular on draft (last weekend). It's pretty nice that some of the stuff seems to last that long - probably because it's one of those things that aren't outwardly advertised if you're there...you just have to know.

Was checking out CCBW events. I now know I will never go to Sweetwater. They are advertising 10oz pours of regular for $20

*rubs hands together* I excitedly await the GI taproom releasing a "Playing With Fire" ($4 "infected" BCBBW) version of Prop '15!

Either that or a "Cuvee of even darker Darkness" (Cuvee of Darkness being a blend of a bunch of variants over the years).

Has anyone ordered (or know someone that ordered) the Playing with Fire? I thought the kegs were "supposedly" fine (I know I've had it from keg once and it was fine), so I was kinda confused what the deal was with Playing with Fire.

It's amazing how different the Fulton taproom is compared with the Clybourn taproom. Here's hoping that once everything is signed off and "officially complete" (whatever that means) that the Clybourn taproom retains its character and leaves the Fulton taproom to continue with their $150 bottles of vintage BCS based on secondary market pricing and selling of infected BW as a half-joke.

I didn't order it, but in the description they said it has lacto in it, so it may well be "fine" in terms of intent, but I assume (and reviews I've seen confirm) that it's sour.

The secondary market thing was especially weird, given that they (I think) sold Rare '15 for $80. $80 isn't MSRP, and it's not the market rate, given how jacked up most places sell it, so that makes their logic even weirder.

But yeah, I'm worried about GI Clybourn. It's always been (in my opinion) a great place, and I hope it stays that way.
