FWIW: It may have been related to the weather, but this year there were at least two locations that still had tickets (i.e. wristbands) available as of 11:00am.

    Makes sense sticking with tradition.

Well crap. The date totally got away from me, and I forgot to even put in for the mail lottery. We're going to be up for the NG release regardless, what are the chances of finding some tickets for sale outside the fest?

Three years ago, close to 100%. The last couple years, I've seen far fewer people waving tickets around outside the fest before opening. I do know a couple people who snagged them, so it's not hopeless, but with the increase in demand & general insanity, I don't like your odds.

Results may vary, but there's a group on Facebook for the Great Taste: https://www.facebook.com/groups/53623615825/
I've been able to score tickets a few times going this route, so it's worth a shot.

Thanks. I've never been, and was hoping not to fall asleep on it this year. Worst case is that the wife and I have to spend the day in the madison area drinking beer some place other than the fest.

This was crazy. I was at one of these places by like 345am and was #110. I couldn't believe that 90 people didn't show up between 4 and 1130 (which was around the time the last wristbands were given away)

tickets really really are not hard to get if you put forth some effort. keep an eye on the forums here, that FB group... check the Madison area craigslist around the event. you'll find plenty of people offloading at face value

This is my plan, I remembered to look up when tickets went on sale yesterday... a day to late to try mail in lottery. Was at a memorial service this weekend in Duluth so I couldn't have made the IP one anyways, grumble well hope I can score some on here or elsewhere would love to make this my only beer fest this year.

Today I received my check back. I struck out.

    Looks like it's plan B.

Wow, that was quick. Normally it's well into June before people start getting checks back. Good luck on the secondary market.

Seems pretty late to get check cashed. I got my rejection letter weeks ago.

I said the same thing. Thought it was odd that I did not receive my check back. Not sure...but hey...keeping up the streak for my 6th Great Taste.

They're clearly doing things way more sporadic this year. This year someone said they got their check back May 18th but I got mine back a couple weeks ago as well. A couple people I know got their tickets last week but there are still some checks being cashed and others who are sitting in limbo.

Sadly I got rejected about 2weeks ago. My postmark was correct , but I mailed it from California,so it probably went into the drum late.

Postmark is all that matters. Even then though, the odds via mail lottery are something like 1 in 5.

On my rejection letter it said the odds were 1 in 3.
