So on here the ABV for Cuvee Rene is 5, on the bottle it's 5.5, and on the LCBO sticker on the latest bottle I picked up it's 6.7, while the bottles from last year's release are 5.5.

Is this just a terrible inaccuracy on behalf of Lindemans or very serious testing on the part of the LCBO?

I noticed this as well. I would have to assume it's a little of both. The LCBO lab would presumably have more accurate ways of determining abv/specific gravity than the brewery, which probably doesn't print off labels with different abvs for every batch.

FWIW, just based on the inebriating effects of the beer when I tried it, I would guess it has to be closer to 6.7 than 5.5.

You can tell the difference of roughly 1%?

    It's actually a difference of over 20%.

Pretty depressing knowing that a brewery of their size can't get their act together. The inability control and test for that sort of stuff and have such a difference batch to batch is a little bush league for a brewery that's so well known.
