That's some good info. If the BCBS was 2015 that's not too bad, and the Java cask at $18 is what I have seen elsewhere. I'll have to check them out for sure.

Do you guys think Pittsburgh has a prayer of getting Rodenbach Alexander or no chance?

It will be here next time the wholesaler gets a delivery from Latis, the importer.

Agree with @PSU_Mike above and second the @Dogleg addition of Carson Street Deli--close to Fat Heads and Pipers and nearly all CSD taps are dedicated to local. Proximity trifecta in about four blocks right there.

How much are you looking for?

Yeah, thought about it then saw the fees on top of the already stupidly expensive cans and didn't buy any.

Reminder for anyone with interest/no plans this Saturday: the Barnyard Beer Festival is this weekend. Live music, bunch of food options and locals beers from Fat Heads, Helltown, Insurrection, Spoonwood and Voodoo. Across from South Hills Village Mall, 6PM to 10PM. BM me with questions or if seeking tickets. All proceeds go to farm restoration projects; last year it raised over 7k and this year is on track to hit five digits.

Regarding BA Gratitude... It's basically $1/oz., which is about what it cost when they sold it in bottles. Are you saying you don't want to pay $16 for once because you don't enjoy it, or for some other reason?

I could be wrong (and this is splitting hairs) but I think it was closer to 80 cents per oz in bottle form last year. $21 per 750ml bottle. If you look at it from a cost per serving standpoint (a serving being 12oz) its the difference of more than $2 per serving. <$10 a glass at last years price verses $12 a glass this year.

I enjoyed the barrel aged version much more than standard gratitude last year. Having said that, I have been a supporter of East End and have gone out of my way to buy plenty bottles of gratitude for many years to enjoy, cellar and share with friends. The move to $16 a can is hard to swallow... im personally not interested in buying any this year.

Last year there was lots of excitement because BA gratitude is what many people have been asking for, for years and it was finally packaged for the first time so it created a lot of buzz and people wanted it regardless of what it was gonna cost. They were expecting it to be perfection and as the reviews show, it ended up not being as glorious as people were expecting.

The beer scene is ever-changing but consumers largely are interested in trying new things. Call it ticking if you must? This is a new vintage release but its not a "new" beer perse. Its not the first in a series or differentiated in any way from last years. So, I think to a large degree people are not as excited about it and willing to pay as much.

Time will tell. The hell do I know? I wish them the best and if they can sell it for that much, good on them. It seems like they want to be able to keep some back and not have a sellout right away so maybe this is the answer?

Last year it was $0.83 per ounce. They moved to cans (cheaper than bottles) and are saving time and $ on not having to wax. So the price technically, should have gone down, but if you want to charge the same amount and use the cost savings as profit, thats fine.. I understand, but then cans should be $13.25. Not $16

The problem is, last year the bottles sold out in a few hours. Because there was excitement that it was finally barrel aged. So their heads got a little big, and felt they could maximize profits and charge even more this year.

However, due to last years carbonation issues (the bottle I tried had very little carbonation (nearly flat)), and after trying the beer (its good, not great). I feel like the demand will go down significantly this year. I'm not wasting my time and $ buying $16 cans of beer. Especially when BG just released a BA Old ale, that was $0.60 per ounce, AND not to mention is a significantly better product.
