This may sound pretty lousy of me but I am not sure that I want to share my homebrew. I have a company party coming up in a few hours and I was contemplating bringing a few bombers of my strawberry IPA to share. I only have 4 bombers and 4 12 oz left and the people who actually would appreciate it have already tried it, and some who just wanted free beer have tried it as well and then followed it up with a Miller Light. I know most of the people at the party will just be looking to get drunk on cheap vodka, so I feel that my efforts will be wasted. So, should I share, or keep it for myself and a select few rather than the masses?

Just share it. You can always make more.

If the people you think would like it have already tried it I'd say bring a single bomber and just do small pours for a taste. You never know who might end up liking it.

Yeah what Hanzo said. I'd also bring a bomber to share but you don't have to give them all a full glass.

I'd share and just brew another batch, your supply is endless if you want it to be. I'm always giving beer away to friends, even my expensive hard won brews like HT/Furious and ZD, it's nice to wow someone who's never heard of HT or ZD.

Is anyone else bringing any food or drink to share? Did anyone ask you to bring some of your homebrew?

IMO, there's no particular social requirement or etiquette requiring you to bring your homebrew to parties. Do it only if you want to.

If your guests are big-time beer fans (like us), then definitely share it. If they are MGD drinkers, then I certainly understand your reluctance to give them the results of your hard work.

What you might want to do is brew a style next time that your guests will enjoy. My college room-mate was a homebrewer, but there was no way he was going to dish out his biggest, tastiest beers at parties. Instead, he brewed up an extremely easy-drinking (and extremely potent) beer with honey and served that. It was a huge success (until the hangovers the next day).

Bring a bomber and see what happens.

    Cheers!

If nobody will appreciate it, why waste it? I wouldn't share it if people "just want to get drunk" ...

Sharing is caring bro. Plus this isn't exactly rare beer, you can always make more if its really good. Plus, wouldn't you like to hear people's opinions on your product whether they are geeks or not?

I'm not against sharing. But homebrewing is a little more difficult than buying another sixer at your local bottle shop. I just don't see the point in wasting it on a BMC mentality. If I'm wrong, so be it, let the dead bury the dead.

Be a BA and Advocate for better beer... I always let people try my homebrew, but I also brew more than I can drink because I enjoy brewing for brewing sake, not because I have a distinct need (primarily high-test age-able stuff).

I'd say share it if you insist on bringing it to the party. Or just bring something else to the party to share instead.

I share everything, the very least that happens is you convert a non craft drinker to a craft drinker... Spread the love!

I did not end up bringing any, the people who tried it and liked it were a bit disappointed I didn’t but understood why, when in the background the rest of the guests were guzzling miller lite and loving every free drop.

Growing up, my dad was a strong influence on me when it came to the kitchen. My mom is Italian and cooked daily, but dad is a hobbyist. Among his hobbies are gardening, canning, hunting, processing game, and making jerky. Add to that he was a member of a men's lodge and made biscuits for the men on Saturday mornings for as long as I can remember. Between giving away vegetables, jelly, jerky, and biscuits he was able to hone his skills without any product going to waste. I take a similar approach to homebrewing. I actually enjoy brewing more than I do drinking. For this reason it's easy for me to give it away regardless of who I'm giving it to. If someone wants to try my beer, I consider it a compliment and am more than happy to share. Currently I have over a case of DIPA that's ready to drink next week and I'll probably only have a few 12oz bottles myself and give the rest away. As it has already been said, I can always brew more...and that's the fun part! It's an enjoyable hobby so my advice is to brew more, and as a result share more.

Ah well, my view of the situation is that a great deal of the enjoyment is the alcohol buzz mixed with social atmosphere. If one person could have tasted it and thought "Hey, beer can be better than this" I think it would have been mission accomplished. Always think if you are being a Beer Advocate vs a Beer Geek vs a Beer Snob. I always try to go to the BA.
