Well, the bar didn't have any new brews for me, so I'm having a Betsy's Mountain Amber from Naked City (which I reviewed earlier this week), a smoky, peaty take on the average amber ale. My first post ride brew was this beer, made with cinnamon and nutmeg: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/43/84382 . The spices were a bit much for me, but it was still a decent enough brew.

    happy NBS.

New beer from a brewery that is never disappointing.

My final NBS post this week was my second post-cycling brew. A good, solid IPA that I found to be incredibly average. I really would have liked to have had a 12oz serving instead of the despised 22: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/29003/81993 . Cheers all and we'll see ya next week!

Having a victory Baltic Porter. What a fantastic porter, pairs well with the Hunger Games! : D

Made my first trip to Lagunitas in a couple of months, specifically because they had a Kriek on tap.

The body was red-orange and very bright in the Petaluma sun. It was presented with an off white head, with nice lacing and retention.

Aromas were funky and musty, with tart cherry tones. Some phenolic, band aid aromas as well, and a little bit of wheat.

Flavors start off funky and earthy. The cherry flavors are there, but more sweet than sour. Some spices and phenolic flavors. Dry finish.

I was actually disappointed by this, which is very odd for a Lagunitas beer. I was expecting a fairly tart beer, and there was no sourness evident at all. Not a bad beer, but I wouldn't call it a Kriek.

I also enjoyed a X Galaxy Stoopid (sorry; no review. But it was tasty!) and also picked up a growler of Farmhouse Saison, mostly because their growlers are just too damn cool.

    Happy Sunday everyone.

Started with Gaffel Kolsch and now I'm on to Victory Prima Pils. Oh yeah, I'm also watching football and about to throw a steak on the grill.

Ice Harbor Double Red Ale. A very well done and flavorful brew.

Starting to switch to the maltier side with the coming change of seasons. I have enjoyed a few Oktoberfest ales the past week, and look forward to more as fall descends on us.

Breezy and dusty here in the Columbia Basin. Looking for the first of the rains to settle the soil.

    Happy Trails!

Better than Hunger Games? For sure, but we wanted to see what it was about.
