Bluegrass Billionare and Trillionare

Sipping a bluegrass right now. Strong bourbon on the nose but finishes smooth. (a quite deceptive 12.5% abv) I'd pick it up again for sure. Cheers to my first BA post.

Picked up a Billionaire the other day. Decent reviews so far. Enjoyed the last "Billionaire" I had. Love me some Clown Shoes!

Odd that the bluegrass label says 11% yet the bottle in my hands says 12.5%

 

That seems to happen a lot with barrel-aged beers. I know with Bourbon County this year there were both 13.7% and 14.3% versions of the same beer going around (maybe others too?) -- I guess sometimes it's hard to guess just how much the residual bourbon from the barrel will end up transferring more alcohol to the beer, so multiple barrels might mean multiple ABV percentages listed?

 

Really? Mine says 12% on the label. Wonder if that was just for Ohio....either way, awesome beer!

gonna get em if i see em. not enough good and reasonably priced ba barleywines out there...hope these are worth adding to the mix. my last bottle of billionaire was damn good, so looking forward to trying these.

 

Picked up Billionaire yesterday. It will probably make its appearance on New Beer Sunday later today.

BCBS has two versions every year, the lower one is sent to states that have abv restrictions. Could be a similar thing going on here, Ohio used to have an upper limit of 12% up until recently.

 

Bluegrass Billionaire is going to all of our markets. Most of it has shipped already. Trillionaire is going to a select number of markets due to lower volume - still finalizing the markets once we know the exact volume we have.

As for the ABV, yes there was some natural variation between barrels and batches put into the barrels.
