I did and I was like who is this and how do they have my home address. Package arrives today, must be that shirt. Took me a solid two days to remember Rue is the Bruery name.

i forgot to grab either Jurassic Gose or Saixon the first time around. reviews seem to indicate they're both fairly mediocre. anyone think they're still worth trying?

    Hi everyone,

In case you haven't heard, the OC Brewers Guild (a 501(c)(6) non-profit org) is having a festival coming up on June 11th from 5-9pm at the Fullerton Arboretum. I'm currently president of the Guild, so I'm trying to get the word out. It's an unlimited pour event with food included, and it's going to be a lot of fun. We'll have some special beers that we'll pour for Society members only, and we're bringing a lot of special beers in general (Black Tuesday, some of the one-off beers we had at our anniversary party).

I know Noble is bringing all of their World Beer Cup medal winning beers, Bottle Logic will have Fundamental Observation and a bunch of other great beers, and all OC breweries are pulling out the stops to make this a fantastic and memorable festival. If you haven't tried RIIP Beer Co., Artifex, Chapman Crafted Beer Co., Legends, and all of the other new and exciting breweries in OC, this is a great opportunity to do that.

Tickets are available at http://www.ocbrewersguild.org/ (if you want to check out the Guild's website) or https://www.eventbrite.com/e/oc-brewers-guild-festival-tickets-24638509445

We currently have a bit of an unofficial competition between OC breweries on who can get the most people to use their coupon code. If you're up for going (which you really should, it's going to be awesome), please use the coupon code ocbgBrueryTerreux and you'll save $12 per ticket.

In full disclosure, I don't have anything to gain from this, except for bragging rights, getting the Guild off to a great start, and having a lot of familiar faces at the festival. Thanks everyone!

    Cheers,
    Patrick Rue

Yes it was. That's one of the reasons the label(s) were redesigned.

Sounds like another awesome local event but sadly I can't make it that weekend.

Somewhat unrelated but since you are the man in charge: Any chance of pushing the event to another month next year? Between your Anny party, Firestone Walker Invitational, this one and Beer Camp that is like cramming 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Xmas and a birthday all into one month. I guess what I am trying to say is the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak and spongy.

Good point! We'll definitely discuss it for next year's planning. There's a lot of beer events in general, but certainly more in the summer months.

    Cheers,
    Patrick

Anybody cracked a bottle of this year's ToD C&V? I am tempted to max again in the second chance sale. On tap in the tasting room last week I thought it was divine, though not as vanilla-forward as the previous batch. And that said, I thought the vanilla fell off pretty quickly in bottles of the prior iteration.

I cracked a bottle this past weekend. When you first drink it on the colder side it seems to be more tart and cherries come to front with little vanilla. If you let it warm, the vanilla comes forward more and the tartness seems to back off a bit.

I opened an Elements of Funk Brett Drei last night that literally shot 3-4 feet in the air when the cap came off. Over half the bottle coated my kitchen walls, cabinets and floor.

After being shipped from the Bruery it's sat in my wine fridge at 50*F and sat upright for a few hours in a normal fridge prior to opening.

I'm worried about my other bottles exploding, to be honest.

The beer was ok, but not worth keeping around for the risk of possibly having to clean glass and beer out my fridges.

Anyone else experience this? Are all the EoF bottles becoming aggressively carbonated? I haven't opened any from the rest of the series yet.

Agreed. My concern is more related to the fact that we do see variation between bottles and draft in some beers; given I felt like the current draft is less vanilla forward than the previous iteration of the beer (at least based on my recollection), if the bottles are already even less so than the draft, I'm probably not inclined to add another 3 bottles to my collection in the second chance sale.

Opened a bottle of this year's ToD C&V last night. It was excellent; just maxed on the second chance sale. As other descriptions have noted, the cherry overwhelms at the onset but as it warms (and it doesn't need to warm substantially), the vanilla becomes a major player.
