2016 really does seem to be the year of the hop in NC. Just since this thread was started in January there have been a ton more good IPA's and DIPA's being made well enough to get noticed.

Sounds like I need to find time and make a visit this summer. Family road trip.

Yeah us too. I don't know if it's going to be the summer or early fall, but we are going to plan a weekend to hit Heist and Wooden Robot.

These are admittedly all very different beers, but we drank that crowler, Todd the Axeman, PseudoSue, and 3 different Veil beers yesterday and the unanimous favorite was the Cintraquintial.

You can't beat Highlands IPA for the price. Highland really upped their game with that one. That being said, if someome were visiting me I'd be sure they drank Pernicious, HDR, Hop on Top, Freak, and Hubris if I could get my hands on it.

Not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread yet or just the Raleigh one, but the Local IPA from Bond Brothers definitely deserves a mention here after now having had it several times.

Just tried Wooden Robot's What He's Having IPA and all I can say is WOW. Right up there with the IPAs that Heist is putting out.

Heading to Wilmington this weekend, gonna stop by Cary/Raleigh for a day as well. Any places i can pick up some of the IPAs mentioned above?

Well, I know as of today Ridgewood Wine & Beer had two different ones from Bond Brothers on and were offering growler fills priced pretty well. Otherwise I'd say the brewery in Cary is the other option and I think they just started doing crowlers.

Pernicious or any of the other Wicked Weed ones you should be able to find at any bottle shop around town. Lynnwood cans may not be at every shop, but most as I think they did a new batch recently.

We don't really get any of the Charlotte ones like Heist or Wooden Robot, I don't think those have been packaged yet and I haven't seen any kegs from either in this area before. It's possible you may find some Hop Drop cans somewhere, but it would be hard to say where unless someone has specifically seen them and can point you to the place.

Not everything on this thread is available in Raleigh, but Bottle Revolution, State of Beer, Tasty Beverage, and Ridgewood Wine & Beer are the recommend bottle shops.

And the Highland IPA should be available in any grocery store. I'd grab a six of that.

I'm trying to think about what all has been mentioned in here, a lot of stuff has been either seasonal or just something that may not be around currently (e.g. Hubris or some of the Trophy ones).

Trophy is starting to pop up more and more places around town, but the brewery and brewpub are really the only places you're likely to be able to get growlers of something like Double Death Spiral.

I'm sure I'll try most everything they have on tap but if you have been recently, is there a "must try"?

I haven't been there, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the IPA and the DIPA.

Based on what the website says is available, i would list them in this order

    All is ripe
    Reformed
    Gnarly nectar
    Bantam weight

All is ripe and Reformed being the two that represent the hype of the new Heist IPAs.

My brother just got back from Charlotte, brought me a crowler each of All is Ripe and Reformed. Can't wait to try after reading reviews here. Gonna mow the lawn, then will be ready to pop one open.

Said he visited Legion too, had their Hibiscus Gose and Juicy J.
