Am I the only one that thinks Hop Burglar kinda sucks? Had it again today, and I just don't see the need for it when you've got a great ipa beer in Pernicious and a great dipa in Freak.

Like Pernicious, not so much Freak. My vote would go to Buriel Scythe.

I'm glad someone else said it. I didn't like it when I had it at the brewery last year, I didn't like Brett burglar, and I don't like the recent bottles of hop burglar. It's just not good to me.

Tried Scythe the other day after a bit of a lapse and I am gaining a better appreciation for how solid a beer it is.

Awesome news. Thanks for sharing @Woodrow ! Wishful thinking I am sure but it would be nice to see one or both reemerge in time for Memorial Day weekend. Especially with some iffy weather in the forecast for Sunday and Monday. A slice of pie and a nice NE style IPA sure would work for me.

aren't we forgetting the most popular one or did I miss something?
*edit. I see this has already been discussed.

Obviously can't speak to this version of D.A.V.E. but the previous ones have been about the best session IPA's that I think you'll find anywhere around these parts. Hazy and juicy for sure. My love of Cloud Surfer is already documented here.

Scythe most definitely deserves a seat at the table, Burial makes several great IPA's. I personally have not had a better rye IPA than Scythe, I just normally prefer non-rye ones.

I like the sharpness of the rye in an IPA, I like rye bourbon too, it kinda follows.

Are any of these wicked weed, trophy, burial IPAs available in the Wilmington/topsail area. Will be down there in two weeks and really want to try some good stuff

Don't think Burial is, they only distribute here:

I couldn't really say about the others. Wicked Weed would be around at least I would think.

Assuming you are coming from OH and will be taking I-77 and working your way onto I-40 East, you might want to consider a stop in Raleigh to stock-up. Trophy and Burial will be the toughest to obtain of the 3 you listed. Trophy only sells on premises and growlers to go. Their Maywood, Ave location is a short distance off of I-40. If you were to stop there, you probably want to work from the bottle shop list @CavemanRamblin referenced above to find some of Burial's offerings. Wicked Weed should be easy enough to obtain even in the Wilmington area.

Good luck, enjoy the coast and hopefully enjoy the beer.
