what is the selection like at crystal city wine shop versus, say, a k-1 or planet wine? are there any other bottle shops in crystal city?

 

The wine shop carries very limited numbers. They are very good about trying to complete any request you have (i.e. they'll order for you). K-1 has a great selection. They get most of the limited release stuff. The outside doesn't look that great but inside is awesome. And no, that's about all in that immediate area. You could to go Total Wine in Alexandria which isn't too far from CC.

 

If you are going to head to K-1, also head to the Lost Dog just a couple blocks away. Good draft list, and many bottles to go.

The selection is decent but noticeably more expensive than even K-1. I don't mind paying a buck or two more at K-1 over TW/WF, but when a bomber is $4-5 more... since parking is hell in that area I hardly ever stop by.

If you're in crystal city, depending on time of day, I'd consider running across the bridge to Schneiders Capitol Hill, probably the same distance as TW Alexandria, and depending on traffic, may take less time.

Haha I didn't even bother to look at the handle. Just responded. In our defense, your name is SlothB77... Not very telling. Wine shop can get some limited stuff but not much. Any time I want something they don't have they always take my name down and try to get it. Good people just not much access to the rare beers.

Pretty far back on this thread and I don't know where honestly, but does anyone recall the spot people were talking about for Grimm bottles on Capitol Hill. It was some random bottle shop that I can't recall and it certainly wasn't Schneiders. Thanks!

Eh, for me its super far out of the way and not really on the way to anywhere I'd be going. I would say its more of the later (looking to stow a few rares).
