I'm just not a SA fan, even though the Lager is decent there's better, never liked any of their hoppy offerings. IMO too many styles being pumped out instead of a small core of great beers.

I really like this. The caramel is a tad sweet and maybe overdone but I'm loving the juicy fruit notes I'm getting from it. I can hardly detect the alcohol, it is just really sweet to me. Definitely the best SA brew I've had, and I'd even compare it to Singlecut. Dare I say if it weren't for the sweet caramel malt it may even be close to Trillium or Tree House level...

Exactly what I was thinking when I tried it. Like Hopslam, I do enjoy it as a nightcap beer.

Easily the best Sam Adams offering in my opinion! Very well done and drinks pretty damn easy for a 10% beer. Don't overthink what it is and is not......just enjoy it! Cheers!

I've always been a Sam Adams fan but this beer is disappointing. I think (as someone else said) if the alcohol was dialed back to around 8% it would improve dramatically. As it stands, malty sweet syrupy mess.

I'm pretty sure if the alcohol were 8% people would be complaining that this should be 10%. This is how it goes with Sam Adams

I tried the first batch, underwhelmed. Too malty, boozy and not hoppy enough. A double IPA? I want a face slap of hops. Not trying the second. Not with Be Hoppy, Castle Island and all that Night Shift goodness right next to them. And I am one of the original Sam fans. From 1985.

I have to agree with the folks who say this malty and boozy- the can says that they went to town on the hops but it is hard to smell/taste any of them with cloying malt sweetness. I bought 2 four packs; wish I had bought one and a sixer of Wachusett Larry.

Hey Jim, please reformulate Rebel Raw down to around an 8.5% ABV and you might be on to something. The hop profile is good, the beer is just too malty. A double IPA doesn't need to have a double-digit ABV...
