I know there is a DC only brewery thread, but Aslin is releasing Mexican Hot Chocolate (and Mind the Hop) at the brewery this Saturday. Read the reviews for MHC - it's a must get.

Admittedly haven't been in a while with a 3 month old at home. When's the bar due to open?

At the risk of being a wet blanket, I've had Deceiver and thought it was notably worse than the ratings. Pretty run-of-the-mill stout IMO so it's tough for me to believe that adding a few adjuncts could make it THAT great. JMO.

    Funny thing is...

It's true. All of it. The adjuncts. The excellence. It's all true.

I get what you're saying - how could a beer you dont like get any better withan adjuncts? Well, I've heard the base beer for Black Tuesday is downright awful.

Personally, I think MHC works well because Deceiver tends to be on the sweeter side and the peppers balance it out nicely.

Did you have it right when they opened? Or recently? When they opened I agree I thought it was a little off, but they have been tweaking it and it is now amazing IMO

For those that can't make it out to Reston, Meridian Pint announced yesterday they'd be pouring them both during their VA tap takeover on Tuesday.

The Meridian chain of spots is NOT messing around for Savor week. Basically giving CK and their $15 pours the middle finger with the lineup they've put together and I'm going to love every minute of it.

Doubt KBS is still around in bottles. Smaltimore tapped it yesterday, not sure if it lasted through the night.
Lighthouse had Maple BA Double Negative as of Tuesday.
DD is distributed, it's on shelves right now.

I can't speak to Baltimore, but just general DC area-Conn Ave has DD canned very recently. Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg is doing a Founders welcome to MD event tonight where they'll be selling KBS. 1 bottle per of course and not sure on price.

So Frederick stores got Founders assortments this week. 2 stores I know of got 1 case of KBS each, and each store allowed one person to walk in and buy the whole case. I'm guessing the same guy ran around the area and probably hit up a few other stores to see if they would sell him the whole lot of KBS. Just my guess. A total non-Beer Advocate move by the individual buyer, but I'm a little more disappointed that the store owners were this stupid to sell their whole allotment of KBS to 1 person.

Wow which stores? I'm assuming one was the Sprit Shop. You're right - it's hard to fault the asshole buyer... what kind of shop would sell their entire allotment to one person?

FWIW, the Roasthouse had probably about a case that they were selling last night. I think limit 2 bottles per person.

I won't mention names. Cool that Roasthouse has some, I stop in there periodically when something unique is on the menu.. Good thing is my friends and I each have a bottle or two from VA pit stops so I don't need to have one...struggling to drink through the various stouts already in our possession.

I had it on 3/27/16. I didn't think it was bad by any stretch of the imagination, I enjoyed it - just considered it more of a 3.5-3.75 beer than a 4.25+ beer. Perhaps "run-of-the-mill" came off a bit harsh - I just meant that, to me, it didn't stand out above and beyond other non-BA, non-adjunct stouts available in the DC/MD area.

Though no longer available, I think it is notable that Downtown Crown sold its allotment of KBS as single bottles to spread the wealth, and at a price of 8.99 a bottle. Considering what it has and is going for in places typically much cheaper than MoCo, I though that was a pretty good deal.
