I agree that corks make a fine seal but I feel that an oxygen fixing cap on a pop top can do the job satisfactorily as well. I will also admit that a corked and caged bottle looks prettier as well.

This beer made me very sad either way.

I feel the same way. Bought mine the first few days it hit our shelves. Nothing stood out to me on this guy. Pretty disappointing since Lost Abbey has some good hype around. Bought a second bottle hoping I got an "off" one. Doesn't sound like that's the case.

It's one of those beers that shouldn't have been sold to customers.

Just to be clear.... this is not the "Mo Betta" version?

I don't agree with the comments about cork and cage being permeable, but I do know that when hand filling and corking you get lots of variation due to oxygen trapped in the bottle during that process.

It's not that bad. It's not that good, either, but it's not uncarbonated / infected / undrinkable swill.

It tastes like soapy, bottom-end european beer.
Please note that I love New Belgium.

It's been this way since '09, unfortunately. I, for one, welcome bottle variation with La Folie. Pretty sure you'd find more people who say they've found the C&C versions to be superior to the "consistency" of the pasteurized counterparts. I really wish they'd do special annual C&C releases. I'd happily pay $25/bottle if that's what it'd take.
